CNN Anchor Dana Bash Has Worn Some Spicy Looks Over The Years

When it comes to American journalists, Dana Bash is one of the most recognizable on television. Having been at CNN for over 30 years, Bash is currently the host of "Inside Politics" and co-anchor of "State of the Union." During her career, Bash has interviewed dozens of world leaders, moderated several presidential debates and town hall specials, and has been called a "talented and trusted journalist" by Kamala Harris. In other words, Bash isn't just well-known, but highly respected in her industry.

While working at CNN doesn't give Bash the opportunity to experiment with fashion often, that hasn't stopped her from pushing the envelope occasionally, both at work and in her personal life. Just like CNN's Kaitlan Collins has worn some spicy outfits, Bash has also rocked more than a few things that make you realize this is a woman who isn't afraid to have fun when she can. For example, although we don't see Bash's footwear often when she's behind the desk at CNN, she really likes very high heels, and glitzy ones at that. When Modern Luxury asked Bash in August 2023 what her favorite shoes are, she responded, "All of them. And as high of a heel as possible."

In addition to stilettos, Bash isn't afraid to show off her legs in minidresses or get a little plunge-happy with a neckline when the mood strikes. From neon pantsuits to metallic platform heels, Bash knows when it's time to turn up the heat. It's something we genuinely love for her.

In November 2025, Dana Bash attended the New Jersey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony — she is a Jersey native, after all — in this fantastic minidress. As one of the 2025 inductees, Bash did not disappoint with her outfit, wearing a hem shorter than what we're used to seeing on her, as well as a sheer top that's giving some va-va-voom energy, despite the pink floral print and slightly puffed sleeves. Bash paired the dress with black nylons and black patent leather heels. It's also worth noting that there's a stunning black embellishment at the neckline and wrists, giving a bit of pizazz to the overall look.

For starters, this dress wouldn't have been worn if the long-standing "no white after Labor Day" fashion rule had been observed by Bash. Secondly, you can never go wrong when you pair metallic platforms with anything. At only 5 foot 2, it makes sense that Bash likes to add a couple of inches to her height, and we love that she goes for such a bold choice — even if they're taking a bit away from the white minidress. But sometimes fashion is about sacrificing.

When Dana Bash attended the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in April 2022, she instantly became one of the celebrity LBDs that proves the iconic outfit's versatility. Not only that, but she turned on the spice with a plunging neckline just low enough to reveal a bit of cleavage and sky-high back patent leather platforms. Although the hem isn't as short as we've seen Bash go, it's the perfect length for this particular dress and event. Sometimes a plunging neckline with an ultra-short hemline can feel like one is trying too hard — something that Bash doesn't need to do.

As far as spicy looks go, shimmer is always a good idea. While head-to-toe sequins, which can easily be worn all year if you style them correctly, would have been the epitome of spiciness, considering Dana Bash was attending the 18th Annual Mark Twain Prize for Humor at The John F. Kennedy Center in October 2015, this was the right amount of sparkle. Bash completed the outfit with what we can now call her signature accessory, metallic platform heels, and a small bag that matches the black belt on the dress, bringing everything together flawlessly.

Because spicy doesn't have to be about the cut of one's dress or how many sparkles they can wear at once, but more about how much someone is willing to step outside the box of convention, this neon floral pantsuit gets the spicy stamp of approval. When Dana Bash attended the premiere of HBO's "Winning Time: The Rise Of The Lakers Dynasty," which stars her partner Spencer Garrett among many others, in March 2022, she dressed for the occasion. Because it wasn't her film, she knew not to be over-the-top and try to steal her partner's thunder, but she also realized this was a great opportunity to wear this burgundy ruched dress with a thigh-high slit. Bash completed the outfit with a pair of multi-colored strappy heels. She looked sophisticated, but with enough heat to prove this probably isn't the first time she's opted for a thigh-high dress slit.

Not only was she pulling off this silver and black, bohemian-style dress, but Bash was also showing off how well she'd mastered the art of the red lip. But it didn't stop there. If you lean in, you'll see that Bash was rocking a red, white, and blue manicure. While not exactly something you see often on news anchors, it speaks to the fact that she likes to have fun with her look.
