Kate Winslet's Candid Thoughts About Ozempic Are Unique In Hollywood

"Titanic" actor Kate Winslet is among the celebrities who have openly criticized Ozempic for perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards for women. Using Ozempic to look unnaturally slim has become a terrifying trend among celebrities, particularly Hollywood stars. Young women and girls already face enough pressure to look a certain way and conform to shifting body standards, and that pressure is only worsened by public figures showcasing their tiny frames in front of millions of people. According to Winslet, the number of Hollywood personalities using the drug to lose a substantial amount of weight is "frightening."

Prior to the Ozempic trend, after hearing what GLP-1s were, Winslet told the New York Times: "This sounds terrible. Let's eat some more things!" In a December 2025 interview with The Sunday Times, the Primetime Emmy winner called the new trend "devastating." "If a person's self-esteem is so bound up in how they look, it's frightening," she added. The star went on to note how dangerous it is to inject unknown substances into your body to appear thinner. "The disregard for one's health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever. It is f***ing chaos out there," she said. Winslet often uses her platform to speak up and has been known to shut down the body shamers on several occasions.

Kate Winslet is not afraid to share her opinions, no matter how controversial

Women are often dubbed "brave" for having an opinion, and such was the case for Winslet when she was honest about accepting her natural body. In 2023, when a crew member advised her to straighten her posture to avoid having "belly rolls" in a bikini scene in the film "Lee," she was called "brave" for refusing. Kate Winslet looked stunning without makeup and embraced her body instead. "Brave is going to the front line. Brave is being an NHS nurse in COVID. You know? That's brave," she said in an episode of the "How to Fail" podcast. She explained that wearing no makeup or refusing to have Botox so she can move her face naturally for different characters is not brave. "That's just being a real person," she added.

After "Titanic" propelled her to fame in the late 1990s, Winslet's body became a constant topic for tabloids. In a 2024 interview with The Guardian, she addressed the body shamers who drastically impacted her 20s and criticized the film industry's misogyny. "We slap these labels on women that we just don't have for men," she said, calling the double standard bizarre. Kate Winslet has never had plastic surgery, and in 2025, she again criticized body modification and praised people who choose to age naturally. "What upsets me is that young women have no concept of what being beautiful actually is," she told The Sunday Times. "We have to keep being real," she said, explaining that the natural signs of aging are only signs of life.
