However, for major celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, who have eyes on them almost all the time, those awkward interactions often get caught on camera — and that sparks a lot of online chatter.

Johansson and Jost's marriage is full of strange things we can't ignore, and they seem to have had more than their fair share of questionable exchanges in public. What made the whole thing very uncomfortable was that Johansson was in the studio and was filmed reacting in real time, and it was clear she had no idea what was coming. Johansson looked seriously shocked but laughed along, though fans pointed out the jokes were very close to the bone. "This is easily the most brutal one they've done yet, went straight for the throat on every single joke," one viewer wrote in the comment section on YouTube. "Scarlett was an innocent bystander to a straight up drive by," another stated.

Jost later confirmed on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" that his wife didn't know what was coming, despite the raunchy nature of some of the jokes. "Scarlett was genuinely so shocked," he said. Jimmy Fallon then noted, "It was honestly a legitimate live moment," to which Jost confirmed, "Yes, it really was." And it showed.

In 2025, Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost entered the 2025 Emmy Awards hand in hand. Though their entrance appeared sweet on the surface, an X video shared by Variety's Clayton Davis got fans talking. It appeared to show Johansson with no intention of letting her husband chat with a friend he spotted in the audience. Jost slowed down to acknowledge the person, but Johansson didn't even appear to say hello to the fellow attendee. Instead, she continued to pull her husband down the aisle by his hand.

The video went viral (it has over 10 million views at the time of writing) and sparked a fierce debate. Some defended the "Black Widow" star, with one X user claiming, "She didn't want him to block the aisle as people were trying to get to their seats. Don't stop to talk to people ... at least walk into the seating row." Another agreed, writing, "they're blocking an aisle, of course she is," referring to Davis' caption in which he claimed Johansson "tries to pull [Jost] along." However, others believed the A-Lister should have been more accommodating without hurrying Jost along or seemingly ignoring his friend. "Geez, let go of his f**king hand and let him talk," one viewer hit back. A second wrote, "You can let go of hands. Acting like a mom and small child in a crowd."

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost attended an Air Mail party in Cannes in 2023, but a YouTube clip showed Jost looking super uncomfortable as they posed for photos together. He put his arm around his wife as the cameras flashed, and she repeatedly looked at him and smiled while lifting up her leg. The "Jojo Rabbit" actor, who appeared happy and at ease, even said something to her husband, but Jost never smiled back and looked stiff and unanimated, as if he didn't really want to be there.

During a 2022 appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show," Scarlett Johansson created an uncomfortable moment when she adamantly admitted she wouldn't have dated Colin Jost if they'd met decades earlier. Host Drew Barrymore showed a black-and-white snap of the comedian with a curtain haircut during his school days and asked her fellow actor, "So, would high school ScarJo be into high school Colin?" Johansson responded, "Ah, I don't think so. No." The star then shook her head while Barrymore and the audience laughed. "I just can't, there's no way," she added, after admitting her brother used to have a similar 'do.

Though Johansson's remarks were meant to be light-hearted, viewers acknowledged that the "A Good Woman" actor criticizing her man, even jokingly, in such a public way probably wasn't the best move. "Colin deserves way better man," one YouTube user commented. "Superficial much?" a second wrote.
