Renee Zellweger's Face Has Changed So Much From Alleged Plastic Surgery

Renee Zellweger rose to fame as America's sweetheart after her breakout role in the 1996 film "Jerry McGuire," and, like many stars, has become one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces. And like many other actors, Zellweger hasn't stuck with one look. Since appearing in the Oscar-wining film, Zellweger has had some of the biggest hair transformations of all time. That isn't the only feature of hers that has altered, though, and many fans have noticed how her face has morphed over the years. In 2014, Zellweger showed up at the Elle Women in Hollywood event wearing one of her worst red carpet outfits of all time, with her naturally hooded eyes appearing much wider. Fans took to Reddit to comment on how unrecognizable the "Bridget Jones's Diary" star was, with one sharing, "Sad. Completely lost her uniqueness. I always thought she was very pretty in her own way and had a memorable look. Now she looks generic." Another noted, "Eek! She may have doomed her career with this — similar to Jennifer Grey's bad nose job. She literally looks like a completely different person."

Plastic surgeon Alex Karidis told the Daily Mail that he believes Zellweger's changed face was due to an upper brow lift. He stated, "[The] distance between the brow and her eye is much smaller than before." The doctor added, "Her forehead is smooth — you would expect more expressive wrinkles when she smiles which indicates a possible small dose of Botox between the eyelid and eye." Amid all the chatter, Zellweger was unable to remain silent, and she finally addressed the plastic surgery rumors once and for all.

Renee Zellweger claims to be plastic surgery-free

Many celebs have owned up to their plastic surgery tweaks, but Renee Zellweger insists that she has never gone under the knife. "Not that it's anyone's business, but I did not make a decision to alter my face and have surgery on my eyes," she wrote in a lengthy essay for HuffPost in 2017. The Oscar winner continued, "This fact is of no true import to anyone at all, but that the possibility alone was discussed among respected journalists and became a public conversation is a disconcerting illustration of news/entertainment confusion and society's fixation on physicality."

Still, over the years, Zellweger's face has continued to morph, but plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Solomos believes she hasn't had any more work done. Addressing her altered appearance, he told Hello, "The main reason for this is that she has lost weight and as she's got older her face has got thinner." The plastic surgeon shared, "I think it's likely she's had some non-surgical skin tightening treatments to her face, but I don't think she's had anything else done. She's obviously happy in her personal life and it reflects in how she looks."
