The Real-Life Partners Of The Sopranos' Leading Ladies
Although it may be hard to believe, it's been 26 years since "The Sopranos" premiered on HBO. For six seasons, from 1999 to 2007, audiences watched Tony Soprano, perfectly played by the late James Gandolfini, be equal-parts vulnerable and excessively violent, as the iconic crime boss. It was a role that not only made Gandolfini a household name but garnered him three Emmy Awards, one Golden Globe, and a whopping five SAG Awards. "The Sopranos" consistently ends up on lists of the best television series of all time, and Tony Soprano is regarded as one of the greatest characters to ever grace our TVs — or streaming services.
But as much as the plot centered around Tony, he couldn't have existed without the series' leading ladies. After all, Carmela Soprano, exquisitely portrayed by Edie Falco, isn't just a phenomenal character, but the only inspiration you'll ever need for nailing the mob wife aesthetic trend. Between his villainous mother, Livia, his strong-willed wife and daughter, Carmela and Meadow, respectively, and his therapist, Dr. Jennifer Melfi, there was no shortage of female characters who gave Tony a run for his money.
While the world lost quite a few cast members since the last episode of "The Sopranos," including James Gandolfini, who died of a heart attack in 2013 at the age of 51, the majority of the female characters are still with us. Of those who are still living, these women have real-life partners that are somewhat un-Soprano-like. From musicians to baseball players to fellow actors, here's who the leading ladies of "The Sopranos" call their main squeezes.
Edie Falco and Keith Cotton
Edie Falco, who played Carmela Soprano, has always been quite private about her relationships. However, since 2023, she appears to be in a relationship with musician Keith Cotton. For the past two years, Falco and Cotton have been spotted at various events in the New York City area, including Carnegie Hall's Opening Night Gala in October 2024 and, more recently, the premiere of "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox" in August 2025.
Before meeting Cotton, Falco adopted two children, a son in 2005 and a daughter in 2008. In March 2024, Falco told People that not only have her kids never seen "The Sopranos," but they're not particularly interested in her career either. "But the things that I have that are available to them as a result of being my kids, they're alright with that, oddly enough," Falco told the magazine.
In a bit of tea-spilling, Falco had a high-profile affair with Stanley Tucci in 2002 when the two were working together on Broadway, in the production of "Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune." But despite the scandal, the affair was short-lived — although it did make Tucci a celebrity who admitted to cheating on his partner. "We were together and then we broke up," Falco told The New York Times in November 2004. "Because there's no way for that to be a good thing. He's a lovely man, and he's back with his wife and kids, and I'm thrilled." After all that, it makes sense why Falco may have decided to be tight-lipped about the relationships she's had since then.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Cutter Dykstra
Although Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow Soprano, the daughter of Tony and Carmela, dated a handful of different men over the years, including Jerry Ferrara, Turtle in HBO's "Entourage," she ultimately ended up with someone not in the industry. In 2012, Sigler started dating Cutter Dykstra after the two met each other through mutual friends. Not only was Dykstra himself a baseball player for the minor leagues, but his father, Lenny, played for the New York Mets and is a World Series Champion. Sigler and Dykstra went on to marry in 2016. "My dad has said to me on several occasions that Cutter is exactly who he would want for me," Sigler told People in 2016. "It means everything that my dad feels that way about him."
On Instagram, Sigler regularly gushes about Dykstra and how lucky she and their children are to have him. In June 2023 for Dykstra's birthday, Sigler posted a photo and a touching caption. "You're just the best," Sigler wrote. "I posted this for you on your bday with one hour left in the day to spare you any birthday texts because you don't love attention, even though you deserve it all. You're my favorite... I love you." Before the two tied the knot in 2016, Sigler and Dykstra welcomed their first son in 2013. In 2018, two years into their marriage, their second son came along.
Lorraine Bracco
Of all the leading ladies in "The Sopranos," it was Lorraine Bracco, who played Tony Soprano's therapist, Dr. Jennifer Melfi, who had the most established career when the series premiered. After all, Bracco had played Karen Hill in the 1990 critically acclaimed film "Goodfellas" by Martin Scorsese, which garnered her both an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination. Not only did Bracco already have an impressive resume, but she'd been in an 11-year-long relationship with legendary actor Harvey Keitel — a frequent collaborator with Scorsese. In 1993, Bracco cheated on Keitel with her costar, Edward James Olmos. In coming clean about the affair, Bracco and Keitel ended up divorcing, and she went on to marry Olmos. Bracco and Olmos divorced in 2002. In other words, Bracco has had some drama both on and off the screen.
These days, Bracco, who's one of the celebrities embracing their graying natural hair and looking gorgeous while doing so, is rolling solo. "I'm single, and I'm sure someone will arrive," Bracco told AARP in April 2025. "I believe in love. What do I look for in a man? A sense of humor is extremely important. And I like a guy who's sure of himself ... I'm sure of myself, so I want him to be rock steady." Sounds like Bracco is leaning into the "loud looking" dating trend that lays your intentions bare. Which, let's be honest, is the only way to look for love in the dating world, a place that has become increasingly difficult to navigate.
Drea de Matteo and Robby Staebler
Similar to her character Adriana La Cerva, who was in a relationship with Christopher Moltisanti in "The Sopranos" until her untimely death (read: execution for being an FBI informant), Drea de Matteo also seems to have a thing for men who might be considered bad boys. While her on-screen love, Christopher, struggled with various addictions and his overall significance within the Soprano empire, off-screen, de Matteo was with singer and songwriter Shooter Jennings for several years. Jennings is the son of country musician Waylon Jennings, who, in addition to being one of the creators of outlaw style country music, had quite the reputation for addiction and his rough-around-the-edges type of behavior. Although de Matteo and Jennings got engaged in 2009, having had two kids together, the relationship fizzled sometime before 2013.
At some point, de Matteo started dating drummer Robby Staebler of the band UVWAYS. Because of her politics — she threw her support behind Trump — and her anti-vaccine stance, de Matteo has had to take her career in another direction. Not only is she on OnlyFans, but she and her partner, Staebler, launched a streetwear line, ULTRAFREE, in 2024. "It's about making freedom cool again," de Matteo told the New York Post in January 2024. Whether or not machine gun designs are considered cool is debatable.
