5 Signs Kristi Noem's Marriage Won't Make It Another Year

Unfortunately, we have a bad feeling Kristi Noem and Bryon Noem's relationship won't make it another year. There are multiple strange things about Kristi's marriage, and those bizarre factors have far from subsided. In fact, they're multiplying.

One of the most glaring signs the Homeland Security Secretary and her husband may be bracing for a split is her ongoing relationship with presidential advisor Corey Lewandowski. Though speculation about Kristi's association with Lewandowski began after the Daily Mail claimed in 2023 that they'd allegedly been romantically involved since 2019, the chatter has only increased since then. In fact, the two had everyone talking when New York Post confirmed Lewandowski was only expected to be Kristi's temporary chief of staff until June 2025 — but he's seemingly still working with her at the time of writing.

Then there are the fresh allegations of cheating. In September 2025, an unnamed President Donald Trump administration official told New York Magazine, "Everybody knows they're together. Can I prove it? No. But they're together." Kristi denied the shady relationship rumor in 2021, tweeting in part (via People), "These rumors are total garbage and a disgusting lie." But the rumor mill hasn't stopped spinning. And that's not the only reason the Noem's friends and family probably won't need to buy them another anniversary card.

Bryon Noem can't escape negative comments about his wife

Bryon Noem just can't get away from negative opinions about his controversial wife — including being constantly reminded about the affair rumors. When Bryon shared an Instagram photo of himself on the golf course in August 2025, very few comments had anything to do with his outdoor pastime. "You're not embarrassed by your wife cheating on you?" one Instagram user asked. "Do you like Corey Lewandowski because [it seems] your wife does. A lot," another wrote.

Not all the responses were about the cheating allegations, though. Bryon's comments section was also full of messages about his wife's controversial political beliefs amid their eyebrow-raising MAGA marriage. "With all due respect, your wife's actions are not just politics — they're hurting real families," one person commented, in part. Whether Bryon agrees with his Kristi's political moves or not, it can't be easy for the former First Gentleman of South Dakota to constantly read negative things about Kristi, especially while sharing an insight into his personal life. In fact, it could widen any cracks that may already be in the foundation of their marriage.

They've stopped publicly acknowledging special occasions

There was a time Kristi Noem and Bryon Noem couldn't stop gushing about one another on social media, celebrating almost every milestone publicly. In May 2024, both shared sweet posts on Instagram to celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary. Kristi uploaded a photo of them enjoying a lowkey meal together, writing, "We pulled out all the stops to celebrate ...sweatpants, had a great burger at Labbie's and Bryon let me pick the movie...'Planet of the Apes'!" Bryon did his part by sharing multiple snapshots of them together over the years with the caption, "Happy #32 to my favorite gal in the whole wide world! It's been a heckuva ride and I'm so glad to have been on it with you. I love you Dear! You bless me. Happy Anniversary." In May 2025 though, it was crickets on both sides, as neither shared a grid post to acknowledge their marriage milestone. Of course, not everything has to be posted on social media to make it real, but it's certainly strange how these two went from 100 to zero so quickly.

It's not just anniversaries that are noticeably missing from their social media accounts either. Bryon gushed over Kristi for her birthday in 2023, writing on Instagram, "She is a sweetheart and so talented and a pleasure to be with. I'm incredibly blessed to have her in my life. Love you much Dear and hope your day is a super Blessed one. I'm thankful for you." He also celebrated her with a post on Valentine's Day 2023. However, the birthday and gushy Valentine's posts were also suspiciously missing in the years that followed.

Bryon Noem didn't move to Washington with his wife

A quick scan of Bryon Noem's social media confirms he's seemingly happy and settled in South Dakota. In August, he shared a snapshot of himself on the golf course with his buddies in Sioux Falls, and in April he was on the basketball court in Bryant. His Instagram activity suggests he still lives in the southern state, so probably isn't spending a consistent amount of time with his long-time wife (they wed in 1992 and Kristi Noem looks unrecognizable in their wedding photos).

The Washington Post claimed in August 2025 that Kristi had been living in a military home in Washington's Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling after moving from the Navy Yard area. Of course, Kristi has to live around Washington due to her important role as Homeland Security Secretary, but Bryon not making the move with her is certainly interesting. The more time the duo spends apart, the more chance there is of them getting used to their independence — and they may struggle to come back together if that's the case.

Bryon Noem got Kristi Noem in hot water over her birthday

In November 2025, Kristi Noem shared a Facebook video showing her celebrating her birthday with her family. While that sounds innocent, the clip showed the political figure at a Mexican restaurant wearing a sombrero while staff sang to her in Spanish. The move was controversial considering Kristi's no-nonsense approach to immigration, and several social media users called her out for the tone-deaf restaurant choice. "This ... just shows what a total piece of crap she is mocking the people she has deported. Why did this restaurant allow her in!" one X user wrote. "So, @KristiNoem has basically declared war on Hispanics and then turns around and celebrates her Birthday at a Mexican Restaurant," another hit back.

The extra awkward part? Daily Mail claimed it was Bryon Noem who booked the restaurant for his wife's big day. Although Kristi is surely used to backlash due to her divisive political moves, it's unlikely she appreciated all the negative comments about family celebration. Combined with the multiple other fractures in their marriage, that could cause tension between the political figure and her husband, so it's not looking like this relationship will survive another 12 months.
