Lauren Graham's Next Book Is Giving Gilmore Girls Fans The Ultimate Treat
"Gilmore Girls" fans, rejoice! Carson Daly announced on the "Today" show that the series creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, along with actor Lauren Graham are teaming up again for another project. "We can exclusively announce an untitled book is in the works, taking the readers behind the scenes of the beloved series," Daly shared. He added, "But you're going to have to wait a little bit for this one. It's coming out published in the fall of 2027." In the meantime, fans will just have to pick up several other books if they want to embrace "Gilmore Girls" vibes this winter.
Graham teased the collab on Instagram, writing, "Because we love you, Amy and I are working on a new Gilmore Girls book. Get your coffee ready!" Followers were all for the news, with one replying, "Yaaaay! This news is the best early Christmas gift ever. Thank you." Another wanted the show to be picked up again and wrote, "Just another 7 seasons would be fine." This isn't Graham's first rodeo, as she's already a published author of several books, and after the "Gilmore Girls" revival in 2016, fans may have to settle for reading about Lorelei and Rory on paper.
Lauren Graham doesn't have plans to return to her Gilmore Girls role
After seven seasons of "Gilmore Girls," plus a four-part revival, Lauren Graham is ready to move on from her role. "Five years from now, do you have 'A Very Gilmore Christmas?' Maybe, but there's no reason anymore except enjoyment. And, actually, I think there's far more risk to continue — you run the risk of disappointing people," she told IndieWire. Graham added, "I kind of got what I wanted out of this, out of being an actor, and now I'm actually just as interested in helping somebody else have that, whether through directing or producing."
Graham already gave readers some behind-the-scenes anecdotes from her time as Lorelei in her memoir, "Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between)." Starring in the revival was actually what inspired the collection of essays, with the actor telling Goodreads, "When 'Gilmore Girls' came around again, I was looking back at where I was when I got on the show, who I was before that, and how all these things happened in between that I could not have predicted. Titles of chapters began to come to me, and that's always a good sign." One of Graham's favorite books, "Bossypants" by Tina Fey, was a benchmark for Graham, and she strived for her own memoir to be just as great. "I wanted to write a book of humorous essays. I didn't want to complain or talk about hard times in a way that wasn't helpful. And so that book stuck out to me," she mused.
