The Real-Life Partners Of The Office's Leading Ladies

It's safe to say "The Office" has had one of the biggest impacts on pop culture. Not only is it considered one of the greatest television series of all time, but during 2020, when the world felt scary and uncertain, "The Office" became a go-to comfort show, with Americans streaming a whopping 57 billion minutes of it. That's a lot of Michael Scott saying, "That's what she said," and exactly what many of us needed to hear when vaccines had yet to be developed and talk of the "new normal" hung like a heavy cloud over our heads.

While "The Office" didn't have any on-the-nose lessons to teach, like how to draw the line between your personal and professional life, it introduced us to characters who were impossible not to love. After all, despite Michael's endless flaws, who wasn't rooting for him to find love? This became even more the case when Holly Flax came into the picture.

Although Michael Scott — perfectly played by Steve Carell — was essentially the head of the office, the series couldn't have existed without its leading ladies. Pam Beesly, played by Jenna Fischer, brought a vulnerability and sensibility that was nothing short of absolutely lovable. As much as these women will always be known for their roles on "The Office," that's not the entirety of their personalities. While Mindy Kaling, who has been vocal about her weight loss journey, is notoriously private about her personal life, the other leading ladies have been less tight-lipped about who their main squeezes are.

Jenna Fischer and Lee Kirk

When Jenna Fischer landed the role of Pam Beesley in 2005, she was married to filmmaker James Gunn. Although the couple called it quits after seven years of marriage, Fischer and Gunn are among the celebrities who prove you can actually be friends with your ex. In fact, Fischer was behind Gunn's decision to hire Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight Schrute on "The Office," for the lead in his 2010 film, "Super."

"It's actually because of Jenna that 'Super' exists," Gunn told St. Louis Magazine in May 2011. "Jenna and I are still very close. We weren't the best at being married, but we're the very best at being divorced, and we see each other quite frequently."

As much as it seems Gunn and Fischer will always be an important part of each other's lives, Fischer married filmmaker Lee Kirk in 2010. Similar to Pam and Jim, their romance initially began as a work relationship. "I attached myself as producer and actor to the movie," Fischer told Vulture in April 2012 about the romantic comedy "The Giant Mechanical Man," adding that for several months the two worked closely, perfecting the drafts of the screenplay. "Very slowly, over those months, our meetings started turning into dates," explained Fischer. "I was hesitant to tell him that I was developing feelings for him because this is my first producing job ... And here I am, falling in love with the writer." Fischer and Kirk are still together and have two children.

Angela Kinsey and Joshua Snyder

Like her real-life best friend Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey is also on her second marriage. From 2000 to 2010, Kinsey, who played Angela Martin on "The Office," was married to writer and producer Warren Lieberstein. Despite their divorce, the two remained friends. By season five of "The Office," Lieberstein, like his older brother Paul, was writing for the show.

In 2016, Kinsey married baker and actor Joshua Snyder after meeting him in a grocery store. "It was just me and my daughter, and all of a sudden, there were these rowdy boys in our life, and they just made our house a home," Kinsey told ABC News in January 2021. Kinsey also shared on Instagram that her daughter, as well as Snyder's sons, were in on the August 2016 surprise proposal that took place at their home. "Our wedding was more than just two people coming together; it was a family coming together," Kinsey told Martha Stewart Weddings (via Brides). "We were so proud of our children. They each wrote something to say during the ceremony ... I don't think there was a dry eye in the room!"

Although super fans of "The Office" may have a hard time envisioning Angela with anyone but Dwight Schrute — although she was briefly engaged to Andy Bernard — Kinsey seems to have found her match. Not only does the couple have a cooking show on YouTube called "Baking with Josh & Ange," but in October 2025, their cookbook "You Can Make This!: More Than 100 Family Favorite Recipes" was published. Unsurprisingly, both Fischer and Kaling endorsed the book.

Kate Flannery and Chris Haston

While Meredith Palmer's love life on "The Office" was a bit scandalous at times — after all, she did sleep with a Hammermill paper representative in exchange for discounts on office supplies and Outback Steakhouse coupons — Kate Flannery, who played her for nine seasons, seems to approach romantic pursuits quite differently. "I invited him to my comedy act, but I invited all the guys in the crew," Flannery told Today in March 2021 of her partner, NBC photographer Chris Haston. It was at that show back in 2006 that Haston officially asked Flannery out. "We are kind of Jim and Pam ... we worked together ... but we didn't start dating until the end of season two."

Not only did "The Office" give Flannery a career, but it also introduced her to Haston. "I'm so lucky because when I got 'The Office' I was 40, but I also got to meet my boyfriend on the show," Flannery said on "The Jennifer Hudson Show" (via Entertainment Weekly). Flannery went on to explain that she's always been a late bloomer in all aspects of her life, and it's something that's worked out well for her. "I say later is better because you're more calm, wiser, you get to enjoy it all with more gratitude," Flannery told People in October 2019. As we've learned with the celebs who didn't have sex until later in life, there's no timeline regarding these types of things.

Melora Hardin and Gildart Jackson

If ever there was a villain on "The Office," it would certainly have to be Jan Levinson, played expertly by Melora Hardin. As the vice president of northeastern sales at Dunder Mifflin, making her Michael Scott's direct boss, Jan not only gave Michael a run for his money with their harmful on-again, off-again relationship, but the whole office had to suffer because of it. But in real life, Hardin seems far less mercurial, having been married to English actor and writer Gildart Jackson since 1997, with whom she has two daughters.

"That was kind of an office romance because sets are my office," Hardin told People in May 2008 about her relationship with Jackson, whom she met at a movie wrap party in the 1990s. During the interview, Hardin cited an Oscar Meyer Deli Creations survey that found 67% of people end up in an office relationship. However, a more recent poll from 2022 by LiveCareer, via CNBC, found that percentage to be as high as 75%. No matter the exact number, on "The Office," those office romances ended in happily ever afters for Angela and Dwight, Pam and Jim, and, of course, Michael and Holly. Which is probably why it's become a series that so many people watch again and again.
