Side-By-Side Pics Prove The Devil Wears Prada's Leading Ladies Are Aging Like Fine Wine

Although "The Devil Wears Prada 2" won't be released for another six months, now that we've seen the teaser trailer for the film, it's hard not to get excited. After all, the movie became a cultural phenomenon, garnering two Academy Award nominations — one for Best Actress for Meryl Streep and one for Best Costume Design for Patricia Fields. It also gave audiences an inside look at what it was like to work at Vogue, which, at the time, was considered the most elite fashion magazine in the world.

"[The Devil Wears Prada] brilliantly skewers a particular kind of young woman who lives, breathes, thinks fashion above all else," editor for Marie Claire, Joanna Coles, told The Guardian in June 2006. "New York is peculiarly full of those young women who are prepared to die rather than go without the latest Muse bag from Yves Saint Laurent that costs three times their monthly salary. It's also accurate in its understanding of the relationship between the editor-in-chief and the assistant."

When "The Devil Wears Prada 2" hits the theaters in May 2026, it will have been officially 20 years since the first chapter of Andy Sachs versus Miranda Priestly was released. In the past two decades, the leading ladies haven't just gotten older; they've evolved. While some have leaned into aging, like Streep, who has embraced her gray natural hair, others have opted for a few cosmetic tweaks along the way. But no matter what these women have or haven't done, they're all aging like fine wine.

Meryl Streep has proven that aging naturally is gorgeous

When Meryl Streep first put on the wig to play Miranda Priestly — based on Vogue's Anna Wintour — in 2006's "The Devil Wears Prada," she was 57 years old. Unlike her costars, Streep had already solidified herself as not just a box office moneymaker, but an award-winning actor who could do comedy just as easily as she could do drama. Streep's performance in "The Devil Wears Prada" scored her multiple nominations, including an Academy Award for Best Actress. While she didn't win the Oscar, losing to Helen Mirren, she did take home a Golden Globe for her performance. Since then, Streep has become one of the few celebrities who are confronting aging with confidence by embracing not just her wrinkles, but her gray hair, proving that beauty is sometimes better left alone.

Anne Hathaway still knows that red is her color

Although Anne Hathaway, who was in her early 20s when she played Andy Sachs in "The Devil Wears Prada," has definitely aged well, we would be remiss to ignore the obvious: she's had some cosmetic help. In 2024, Vogue France asked Hathaway about a comment she made in 2010 about not wanting Botox. While Hathaway didn't say her thoughts on Botox had changed, she did point out that the person who made that statement is different from who she is today. "As for my opinion on the matter, I would say that asking people about surgery is a bit like asking them if they have sex: it's an extremely intimate question," Hathaway told the magazine. In other words, Hathaway won't be a celebrity owning up to her cosmetic tweaks, but whatever she's doing, it's working.

Emily Blunt has grown more sophisticated with age

Like Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, who played Emily Charlton in "The Devil Wears Prada," was also in her early 20s in the film. Also like Hathaway, Blunt has seen her career take off, gotten married (to John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert in "The Office"), and she now has two children — there's a lot of living that happens between your 20s and 40s. When Blunt arrived at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, rumors of her having had extensive plastic surgery began to swirl. While it's true that Blunt looks different and there's a good chance that she's had some work done, unlike the Mar-A-Lago face trend, Blunt's cosmetic changes have just enhanced her natural beauty.

Tracie Thoms has clearly discovered the fountain of youth

Of all the leading ladies from "The Devil Wears Prada," it's Tracie Thoms, who played Andy's best friend Lily, who appears to have not aged much at all. Thoms was 31 during the film, and now, at 50, she looks flawless and amazing. While she might have had a bit of Botox, because a forehead that smooth at 50 isn't usually 100% natural, it really doesn't matter much — honestly, who hasn't had Botox at this point? Thoms may be several years older than both Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway, but you'd never know it. She's still looking as lovely and refreshed as ever, and it will be fun to see her on the big screen again as Lily.

Gisele Bündchen's genes are serving up Benjamin Button energy

Although there's no word yet on whether or not Gisele Bündchen will be reprising her role as Serena in "The Devil Wears Prada 2," because the Runway office wouldn't have been the same without her, she made the list. In 2006, Bündchen was already an internationally known supermodel who had just broken up with Leonardo DiCaprio and had started dating New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Considered one of the most beautiful women in the world — and one of the highest paid models — it comes as no surprise that Bündchen doesn't look much different 19 years later.

Stéphanie Szostak proves the French are eternally stylish

While Stéphanie Szostak's role as Jacqueline Follet in "The Devil Wears Prada" didn't get much screen time, the character was an essential part of the story. After all, Jacqueline Follet — who was based on the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld — was scheming to replace Miranda Priestly at Runway. Something that never came to be, because Miranda beat everyone to the punch — just as Anna Wintour would have done in real life. Now 50, Szostak looks even better than she did in the 2006 film, having come into her own and proving that when it comes to aging and style, the French could teach a masterclass on both.
