Kate Middleton's Dramatic Makeup For Remembrance Sunday Misses The Mark

Kate Middleton has made some makeup mistakes before, but her beauty blunders tend to be few and far between. Unfortunately though, Catherine, Princess of Wales' questionable cosmetics during the 2025 National Service of Remembrance in London on November 9 added another misstep to her list. The future queen's makeup seemed too dramatic for such a sombre event (the gathering commemorates late servicemen) and was far from flattering on her complexion.

Kate made a common eyebrow mistake, as they were too dark and heavy for her soft features. Her left brow was noticeably more arched than her left too, which may have been down to how severely they were filled in. Her smoky eye look also needed a little extra attention. The royal sported gray eyeshadow all over her lids and a darker shade close to her lash line, but the shadow on her left eye came to a more defined, and higher, point, which was distracting and made her eyes appear asymmetrical. Kate, or her makeup artist, could have fixed the faux pas by buffing a clean blending brush (such as E.l.f.'s Fluffy Eye Blender Brush or the NYX Pro Blending Brush) over the top to diffuse any harsh line and ensure both sides matched.

Kate Middleton has reportedly taken makeup lessons

It's not clear if Kate Middleton did her own makeup for her National Service of Remembrance appearance or if she relied on a makeup artist for her a more dramatic look. If she applied the cosmetics herself though, we wouldn't be surprised. Though a widely circulated rumor claiming Kate did her own makeup on her wedding day has been debunked, the working royal reportedly did take lessons before her big day.

Wedding planner Mark Niemierko told People in 2011 Middleton, whose beauty routine has totally changed over the years, spent time with makeup artist Arabella Preston. "She's had about three or four lessons with Kate at her private flat in Chelsea and has also gone, very privately to Clarence House," he claimed. "The royals obviously do their own makeup for royal engagements. Part of the whole protocol of learning to be royal is learning how to do your own makeup!" he added. With three children running around and a busy schedule to maintain, we can't blame Kate for her latest makeup mistake if she was behind the look. But we've got our fingers crossed she'll be a little less heavy handed with her brows next time.
