It's hard to believe we're preparing to say goodbye to 2025 and hello to 2026, but celebration season is coming up fast. That means getting acquainted with a host of new beauty trends to make the most wonderful time of the year the most stylish time of the year. According to red carpet hair and makeup artist Luna Viola, many of winter 2025/2026's trends will be influenced by the fashion we've already seen on runways and on some of our favorite stars. "Runaway fashion and celebrity style inspirations are the biggest influences on beauty trends this winter. Jenna Ortega, Chappell Roan, and Charli XCX have all embraced the goth glam aesthetics on the red carpet, incorporating goth and romantic elements to their fashion choices," Viola tells Women, exclusively. That means embracing the likes of darker eyeshadows, deep lipsticks, and flushed cheeks.
But the romantic goth aesthetic is far from the only beauty trend you'll want to try this season, which is good news if goth vibes aren't your thing. The upcoming season will bring a varied selection of beauty trends with the colder weather, as the likes of frosted makeup, rich brunette hair tones, and bangs should also be on your radar.
Berry makeup shades with silky skin
Berry-toned makeup with silky skin will be everywhere this winter. The sophisticated, red-ish purple hues (including raspberry, black cherry, or plum colors) can be worn all over the face, though Luna Viola exclusively recommends making a statement by wearing it on your lips and cheeks. "[This creates] a romantic, slightly vampy look," she says. E.l.f.'s Sheer For It Blush Tint in Cherry Cola can be used on the lips or cheeks for a hydrated-looking finish, as can the Flower Beauty Lip & Cheek Gel Crush in Blackberry.
It's important to have a hydrated, dewy finish to keep the look current. Overly matte skin could look too traditionally gothic and costume-y rather than modern and romantic, and Halloween is over. "To achieve satin-looking skin, spray serum or Korean glass setting skin spray as a finishing touch to your makeup to add that juicy velvet skin effect," Viola notes.
Frosted makeup
Frosted makeup had a brief renaissance in 2023, but it's had a bad rep since it melted out of fashion in the mid-2000s. It's time to give it another chance this winter, though, because it's a fun way to embrace icy, cooler tones along with glitter and shimmer. We've already seen plenty of frosty looks on high-fashion runways, with the likes of Brandon Maxwell and Giambattista Valli's models rocking cool, icy tones. While frosted products may seem daunting, particularly if you don't have cool-toned skin, they're not as hard to pull off as you might think. You can do as much or as little of it as you like, and adapt it to your existing routine.
For a more subtle take, apply a frosty highlighter to the high points of the cheekbone or in the inner corner of the eye. For something a little more obvious, grab your favorite frosted lipstick (like Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Candy) with a frosty lip gloss over the top (such as KIKO Milano 3D Hydra Lip Gloss in Pearly Lavender). Just keep in mind that cool-toned makeup products can wash some skin tones out, so pair light lip products with a slightly darker lip liner to bring some warmth back to your complexion. You can also apply frosty shadow to your eyes for a wintery, nostalgic vibe.
Bangs
In the hair world, bangs of all shapes and styles are the way to go this winter, but Luna Viola exclusively tells Women that softer, layered versions will be particularly popular. "No matter what length your hair is, add feathered bangs and soft layers. This will add a feminine romantic touch to the overall style," she shares. We've already seen bangs make a comeback in the celebrity world in preparation for the winter months, as Kourtney Kardashian debuted a full, eyelash-skimming version on Instagram in October.
Don't worry if you'd prefer not to take the plunge, though, because Viola has a great way to get the look without the commitment. "Shorter face framing layers can work as soft curtain bangs for the perfect fashion accessory this winter," she says, and curtain bangs are one of the trendy haircuts we've already seen everywhere in 2025. There are also plenty of clip-in bangs out there. JBUJBU's Clip-On Bangs give full bang energy with natural-looking curtain bangs on the sides, while SARLA Clip-In Side Bangs offer a layered look.
Shimmery eyeshadow (as part of a smoky eye look)
There's an updated way to rock shimmery eyeshadows this winter. Earlier this year, baby blue shadows and lighter metallics were the previously outdated beauty trends that came back with a vengeance, but Luna Viola recommends taking similar shimmery shades and making them part of a sultry smoky eye look. "Reminiscent of the early 2000s, silver taupe shades add dimension and sparkle to dark smoky eyes for a sexy evening glam twist," she tells us exclusively.
"Add the metallic sparkle gradually just on the center of the eyelid for a pop of color, using cool silvery tones for dark hair and bronze metallic for blond," she adds. Urban Decay's Glaze-On Liquid Eyeshadow in Silver Spooning will pack a metallic punch without disturbing your other makeup, while ColourPop's Blowin' Smoke palette offers multiple shades perfect for creating a smoky eye with a shimmery topper.
Rich brown hair
Sorry, blondies; winter 2025/2026 will be all about darker, deeper hair hues. Though traditionally, people lean toward cooler tones as the temperatures drop, this coming season is more about deep, warm shades. "Rich brown hair colors such as brunette, creamy chocolate, copper, or creamy caramel, as seen on Amal Clooney, the biggest trend setter this winter, [are in]," Luna Viola exclusively tells us.
Of course, if your hair is super light, the only way for you to get in on this trend is by taking the plunge and going dark, like British reality star and social media influencer Zara McDermott did in September. If you're already brunette, though, you can still dip your toe into the aesthetic without doing anything too drastic. "If you are not ready for a complete change, ask your hairstylist to add red or golden warm reflex into your usual color touch-up," Viola recommends.
