Reba McEntire's Biggest Hair & Makeup Missteps In 2025

Not only is Reba McEntire one of the most famous stars in country music, she's also carved out a diverse career thanks to big-time gigs like her coaching position on "The Voice," her iconic sitcom "Reba," and her role in "Happy's Place." Through it all, she's adopted a look as iconic as her accomplishments. Her fiery red hair, penchant for western wear, and glam makeup has become as synonymous with her as her Oklahoma twang. And that's made McEntire's full transformation a sight to see.

But this talented and likable superstar also serves as a stark reminder than even the most famous celebrities with access to the best hair and makeup teams in the world don't hit their glam out of the park every time. In fact, in 2025, McEntire made a few makeup and hair missteps that had us doing a double take. From obviously fake wigs to all-orange everything, we're guessing McEntire would like to "Take It Back" when it comes to these beauty looks.

Reba McEntire's monochrome makeup was overkill

We love how proud McEntire is of her signature hair hue, but her orange mane, orange eyeshadow, and orange lipstick combo at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May was overkill. The monochrome palette created an unflattering look on her complexion. Her makeup artist even applied the shadow under her eye, which made her peepers look sore instead of glam. Rich jewel tone shadows (like purples or greens) would have looked stunning against her hair and fair complexion.

The star's bangs were unkempt as she posed alongside Nicole Scherzinger

Also in May, Reba McEntire enjoyed a night out watching Nicole Scherzinger in "Sunset Boulevard" alongside Kristin Chenoweth. Unfortunately, her hair was a little unkempt backstage with her usually full, well-styled bangs parted in the middle appearing messy and piece-y. It's not the most outrageous beauty mistake, but it does show she skipped out on a crucial prep step. Adding dry shampoo — such as Living Proof Dry Shampoo or Batiste Original Dry Shampoo — to her bangs could have given her fringe the texture, volume, and movement it was missing. Dry shampoo could also have helped eliminate any greasiness that might have encouraged the accidental center part.

Her wig was a little too obvious at the ACMs

Reba McEntire is among the celebs who have been honest about wearing wigs — and she was clearly wearing one at the ACMs. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, it's just that McEntire's wigs don't always do her look any favors. In this case, the smoothness and perfectly formed curls gave her hair piece away. It was also devoid of flyaways and suspiciously shiny. Dry shampoo or texturing spray can work wonders on wigs to tone down shine and add natural-looking texture.

She looked washed out wearing too light foundation

Reba McEntire attended an event in September and flashed a big smile as she posed alongside a group of friends in front of a balloon display. But, instead of her usual healthy-looking self, she looked washed out. We'd have recommended the star try a foundation one shade darker with a slightly warmer undertone. Not only would that have given her a more of a glow, her blush wouldn't have been looked quite so intense.

Reba McEntire locks were frizzy when she returned to Oklahoma

When Reba McEntire performed in Oklahoma in March, her hair wasn't looking its best. Her signature red locks (which appeared to be a wig or extensions) appeared frizzy as they rested on her left shoulder. Extensions can frizz because they don't benefit from the natural oils that come from our scalps. Equally, over-use of heat styling tools can make the strands appear less than healthy. To get her locks (be them authentic hair or otherwise) back in shape, we'd suggest cutting off the wiry ends and getting a deep condition.

Reba McEntire's uneven blush placement changed how her face looked

Blush placement is more important than one might think. It can either compliment your cheekbones or morph the shape of the face. And as gorgeous as Reba McEntire looked at May's Variety Power of Women Nashville event, her uneven rouge led to the latter problem. The pinkish orange product was applied a little closer to her nose on the right side of her face, making it so the left side seemed droopy.

The volume in her hair was uneven while posing with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Much like Reba McEntire's blush placement created an uneven aesthetic, she had a similar issue with Arnold Schwarzenegger in May. The legendary performer's mane had much more height on her right side than her left, as her curls started closer to her scalp. That made the right side of her face appear more lifted and her hair more voluminous. Though it's easily done by when styling our own locks, considering McEntire has a glam team, it could easily have been rectified for a more even, uniform finish.

Her hair was basically bulletproof in a video with Niall Horan

Though Reba McEntire looked great in a funny Instagram video with her "The Voice" co-coach Niall Horan, there was something unusual happening with her hair: the strands didn't move! No matter how much the "Consider Me Gone" hitmaker shook her head in the clip shared in September, her super shiny locks stayed firmly in place, suggesting she was wearing fake hair or that she went too heavy on the product. Of course, style that holds is important, but these stiff ends seemed more like they were made of plastic.
