Lauren Boebert's College Football Game 'Fit Put Her Dated Style On Full Display

If you're strong-headed enough to stick to wearing what you like, no matter how much criticism you receive, you deserve a round of applause. So, let's give a big round of applause to Lauren Boebert because, despite wearing many outfits that have missed the mark, it seems she doesn't have plans to change her style or makeup look anytime soon. In June 2025, the Colorado congresswoman showed up to a college football game that seriously put her dated style on full display. 

In an Instagram story shared by Boebert's District Director (via Nicki Swift), the congress member can be seen wearing a pumpkin orange, tube-style mini dress layered underneath an oversized, cropped Colorado State jersey. She styled the look with a shiny gold bangle and wore her hair down with big curls that were reminiscent of early 2000s prom-era glam. Meanwhile, her deep-orange glow tan looked freshly sprayed and popped against her heavy, slightly cakey makeup, making the look impossible not to notice. But the shoes are what really what completed the throwback vibe: white strappy, espadrille sandals. While once the epitome of quiet luxury, this sandal was named an outdated shoe trend you wouldn't want to be caught wearing in 2025. The criss-cross strap detailing is likely to remind Millennials of what their teachers wore during the last few weeks of school, amplifying the dated energy of the overall look.

Of course, wearing a dated outfit shouldn't be so surprising from Boebert, given that many of her political views seem to be stuck in the 20th century. She infamously championed the overturning of Roe V. Wade.  Meanwhile, in Spring 2025, Colorado State University had taken part in offering reproductive health kits to those in pro-life regions. So clearly, Boebert couldn't have been more out of place. Both students and alumni took notice of the disconnect. As one commenter wrote, "Why was Boebert there? She doesn't represent Fort Collins and she is not a CSU alum." Still, while there appears to be little hope for Beobert winning over the student body any time soon, a few swaps could have easy fixed her outdated outfit. 

Though you can't fault Lauren Boebert for wearing what she wants, it's impossible to deny she would have benefit from re-evaluating her game day look. Instead of going for the awkwardly cropped jersey that hit at the waist, which gave early-2000's vibes, the congresswoman could instantly modernized her outfit by going for a slightly longer, roomier style.She could have also been more on-trend if she tucked the jersey into high-waisted jeans rather than the fitted orange skirt — as long as they aren't skinny, a.k.a. the outdated denim trend Boebert just won't give up. Pairing the look with sneakers, like Reebok Club C Tennis Shoes, would have kept things casual, while western boots would have given her an effortlessly trendy vibe. Finally, swapping her dated gold bangle for simple, understated jewelry and keeping her makeup would have sealed the game day look.
