What Tulsi Gabbard Looks Like Without Makeup
If you were to describe United States Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard's aesthetic, simplicity is probably the first word that comes to mind.Back in 2020, her makeup artist shared a photo of the politician to Instagram wearing little more than some eyeliner and foundation that she captioned with a series of hashtags that included "#freshlook." Compared to Tulsi Gabbard's fellow outspoken Republican ladies (including the Trump women, who have made a plethora of makeup mistakes), her go-to cosmetic aesthetic often leans more on the understated side. Her signature look seems to consist of a coat or two of mascara, a subtle, shiny lip color, and well-blended blush.
Still, even if it's made to look natural, makeup is still makeup. But the former member of the U.S. House of Representatives has no qualms ditching the product completely every now and then (likely due to her work with the U.S. army) and, in 2023, the she made it clear she was still prepared to go au naturel to serve her country. "Just wrapped up 4 days on duty with our Civil Affairs soldiers in the great outdoors of Oregon. I'm grateful for the privilege of serving alongside these great Americans!" she captioned a series of Facebook photos that showed her smiling in her camo uniform with what appeared to be a bare face.
Gabbard wasn't wearing any makeup in the snaps, which was understandable considering the important job she had to do. The politician had her hair pulled back into a ponytail to show her natural beauty, with her trademark, gray streak still visible. Gabbard's skin was blemish-free and she also didn't show any signs of the different types of skin hyperpigmentation, such as age spots. Also missing? Dramatic, dark under eye circles, as her skin looked bright and radiant. We're totally enviable of how thick yet tame her brows were too, despite the confident political figure clearly not filling them in with a powder, pomade, or pencil.
Tulsi Gabbard has spent thousands on hair and makeup
Despite being a celeb who loves minimal makeup, Tulsi Gabbard is still a fan of the likes of matte foundation, lip liner, and a good set of faux lashes when the occasion's right. And Gabbard's look doesn't come cheap. In 2016, her political spending reports confirmed she'd splashed $7,939 on hairstylists and makeup artists in around 18 months.
One thing she won't be spending thousands on though? Hair dye to camouflage her signature gray streak. During a 2019 Instagram Live, Gabbard clapped back at a fan who asked if she planned to cover it up and shared the poignant reason she keeps it. "...No, I'm not going to dye it," she said (via CNN). "I actually started going gray in that one spot during and after my first deployment to Iraq. And so I keep it as just a remembrance of those who we lost there and the cost of war and why we fight so hard for peace," she explained.
