Kim Kardashian Made This Formerly Outdated Nail Trend Look Chic
Long, coffin-shaped manicures are among the outdated nail trends we have moved on from, but Kim Kardashian has us reconsidering this dramatic shape. The trend-setting reality star stepped out in Venice for the 16th DVF Awards, wearing a flowing design by Maison Margiela and flashing extra-long pale pink nails with pointed ends.
The Kardashian and Jenner clan has long been synonymous with ultra-feminine long nails. Kylie Jenner's best nail looks of all time are all jaw-dropping in length. In one viral video, Jenner once bragged that there's "nothing I can't do" with her stiletto manicure, before immediately demonstrating that she couldn't fully close her hand. And, of course, for plenty of coffin fans, the style never went away. "Oh don't let the internet fool you," wrote one Reddit commenter who dismissed the idea that the coffin shape was going anywhere. "A good coffin shaped nails will always get the job done."
Still, Kardashian has been favoring shorter nails lately, like the neutral-colored manicure she sported for Jenner's August 2025 birthday party. The subtler style is elegant and well-suited to Kardashian's newer minimalistic style. But there's something fun about seeing the icon revive her former nail style. If anyone can bring the long coffin trend back, it's Kardashian.
People just can't get enough of Kardashian-inspired beauty
Kim Kardashian is among the celebrities we wish would take more fashion risks. She rarely strays from her preferred palette of neutral tones. Still, there's no denying that the reality star turned cultural icon has a face that's launched a thousand beauty trends. Kardashian, along with her sisters, has helped popularize contouring, lip fillers, and Brazilian butt lifts.
"When I think of heavily filtered IG photos, facetuned unrealistic bodies, and lying through your teeth about body altering procedures, I do think of the kardashians and their respective feeds for how it effected my generation," wrote one Reddit commenter. The commercial power of the sisters to mobilize shoppers is so intense that it's been dubbed the "Kardashian Effect." Several of the sisters have capitalized on this cultural capital by becoming beauty moguls, selling supplements and makeup kits.
With their heavy reliance on cosmetic procedures, critics have attacked the Kardashians for perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards. Meanwhile, fans argue that the family has provided a new, different standard for beauty in America — an alternative to blond hair and hauntingly thin bodies. "Beauty standards have always been unreasonable," weighed in another Reddit commenter. "It's just that the Kardashians caused the pendulum to swing from tall, blonde, and impossibly skinny, to brunette and curvy, and being short is OK now.
