Socialite Paris Hilton was a Y2K icon. Her signature look involved microscopic skirts, plenty of pink, and a long mane of platinum blonde hair. That's why her new look in an editorial campaign for Karl Lagerfeld is such a shock. Hilton has joined the ranks of celebs who took a stunning leap from long hair to short hair; her distinctive strands have been cropped into a dainty micro bob. The entire campaign is a fun subversion of Hilton's typical, hyper-feminine aesthetic. The surprising bob pairs elegantly with the menswear suit and loafers, thick black eyeglass frames, and briefcase-coded leather purse.

It's not the first time Hilton has rocked short hair. Still, it's a shocking change for the star who is devoted to long locks. After all, Hilton reports she once sobbed over a too-short cut that happened as a mistake in the early 2000s. "I was not paying attention, just like on my phone and then I looked up and I had like long hair all the way down to my waist at this point, and I looked up and he had cut my hair all the way to my ears," she told US Weekly. "I was so in shock and I looked in the mirror and I didn't know what to say. He's like, 'Do you like it?' And I went to the bathroom and called my sister crying." But it's safe to assume there were no tears this time around, especially since Hilton is super on trend with her drastic chop — short hair is hot for 2025.

Paris Hilton takes heat protection seriously

Paris Hilton is best known for her sleekly styled blonde hair, and she says that she prefers to wear it straight. But a throwback snap that the star shared to Instagram reveals that her natural texture is much wavier. The black and white school photo captures the young Hilton as blonde as ever with softly textured hair that's dramatically different from the flat-ironed style she wore for "The Simple Life."

Maybe it's all those years of heat styling her hair that have made Hilton such an advocate for proper hair care, which is the key to not frying your hair when using hot tools. She appeared in a Living Proof campaign titled "Your Future Hair Will Thank You" and told Byrdie that she wishes she could go back and encourage her younger self to prioritize proper hair maintenance. "To keep my hair strong and healthy, I use Triple Bond Complex," she said. "It makes my hair more resistant to future damage while adding softness, smoothness, and shine."
