Reba McEntire Wigs That Didn't Do Her Red Natural Hair Any Favors
Believe it or not, Reba McEntire's gorgeous hair transformation has included a wig or two. McEntire is a celeb who's been open and honest about wearing wigs, telling People in 2019 (via Nadula), "I wear wigs a lot because it's so much easier, and I'm having a blast." But, unfortunately, not all of her hairpieces have been winners, because some didn't do her natural red hair any favors.
One of those was the short number she wore to the "Loretta Lynn's Friends: Hometown Rising" benefit concert in 2021. In a still from the event shared to Yahoo, McEntire's locks were styled into a shoulder-skimming bob with choppy bangs — but the 'do was clearly a wig. Though we loved seeing her try a new style, this particular wig wasn't the best because it was too shiny (a dead giveaway for a hairpiece), too sleek, and too devoid of flyaways to be natural.
Another reason the look wasn't our favorite from the star? Because we love her natural tone and texture so much. McEntire looks so different with her natural hair, which is bright orange and curly, and the darker red, super straight style was distracting because she strayed so far from that.
Reba McEntire had a faux hair fail at the 2024 ACM Awards
Reba McEntire also experienced a faux hair mishap when she walked the red carpet at the 2024 ACM Awards. The beauty wore what appeared to be a front hairpiece as she posed for the cameras, but there were a few giveaways that it wasn't all her own hair. In the camera flashes, the front section appeared a slightly different color from the back, suggesting she may have turned to clip-on bangs with her natural hair. The front had a warmer, richer red tone than the back, and fewer flyaways, which made her natural tresses look a little dry in comparison. The other reason we could tell it wasn't all hers? The position of the bangs. The hairpiece was parted almost in the middle of her head, though the "Consider Me Gone" hitmaker's bangs usually begin a little further forward.
This look also didn't do her natural hair any favors because she opted for a totally different style during the show. While performing at the Academy of Country Music Awards, McEntire rocked a shorter style (a rounded bob) with much blunter bangs in a wavy style. Though it's not clear if that was her natural hair, either way, the huge change in such a short amount of time was a dead giveaway that she had a little help with her 'do. But, honestly, there's nothing wrong with that. Many of the hitmaker's fellow country stars add extensions and hairpieces to their tresses, including Carrie Underwood, who looks totally different without her extensions.
