Anne Hathaway Looks So Good People Can't Help But Kickstart Plastic Surgery Rumors

One of the biggest names in Hollywood, Anne Hathaway, turned heads at the 2025 Met Gala, and it wasn't just for her show-stopping custom Carolina Herrera ensemble. The Oscar-winning actor looked like she had aged backward and had everyone doing a double-take. Soon enough, photos of Hathaway at the gala flooded social media, and people were wondering if she had gotten plastic surgery.

Major publications jumped on the speculation bandwagon, with Page Six describing her as looking "half her age" amid the rumors, and it was such a hot topic that plastic surgeons jumped at the chance to weigh in. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Barrett of Barrett Plastic Surgery, took to his TikTok account (which boasts more than 2 million followers), and cautiously suggested that she might have undergone a minimally invasive facelift, noting that a neck lift was also a possibility given her tight and lifted neck and taut jawline. He also credited the surgeon who did the work, as he said, "Whoever did this did a great job!"

Beyond surgery, Dr. Barrett saw the possibility of Hathaway having had fat transferred to the face to restore youthful volume and suggested she might have gotten eyelid surgery because "her eyelids look a little more awake." He complimented her glowing skin, which makes sense as she's always been an ageless beauty, even when she's makeup-free, and said that on top of a good skincare routine, she likely sought out advanced skincare treatments like CO2 laser resurfacing. Officially, the actor has never confirmed any cosmetic procedures, but fans are praising her for making her 40s look fabulous.

Our Princess of Genovia likes to set boundaries on beauty speculations

This isn't the first time people have speculated whether Anne Hathaway went under the knife or not, and we don't blame them. The A-list actor is aging so gracefully that it's hard not to wonder. But no matter how much people speculate, it doesn't seem like Hathaway will make the list of celebrities who have owned up to their cosmetic tweaks. And honestly? The actor owes no one an explanation. It's not like she's got the infamous Mar-A-Lago face, and she's never denied having work done or shamed anyone for wanting it. And from her past interviews, it's clear the actor likes to set boundaries about speculations like these.

In a 2024 interview with Vogue France, the actor was asked about a comment alluding to the fact that she didn't want Botox as it would diminish a part of her identity that is so important to her. She responded with so much grace and said, "It's strange to comment on a sentence from fifteen years ago. I know who the young woman was who said it, I know why she said it, but today, she seems unbearable and moralizing to me. As for my opinion on this subject, I would say that asking people about surgery is a bit like asking them if they have sex: it's an extremely intimate question." Well said! The actor reminds us that aging and the decisions we make along the way are deeply personal and deserve the utmost privacy and respect.
