Throwback Pic Of Reba McEntire Showing Off Her Natural Hair Is Stunning

Reba McEntire has rocked some stunning hairstyles over the years, but none have come to be associated with her star quite like her natural red. Though McEntire's gorgeous hair transformation includes plenty of shorter, sleeker looks — and the odd hairpiece, considering she's been open and honest about wearing wigs — the singer proved natural curls are her best look when she posted an adorable throwback Instagram snap featuring her son Shelby. The photo was likely taken in 1990 (the year Shelby was born) and showed the mother/son duo enjoying some quality time together. In the photo, McEntire's fiery red locks had plenty of volume and formed tight ringlets that framed her face in a flattering and glamorous way. Her hair was so big, it cascaded over Shelby's head as she embraced him.

Though the "Consider Me Gone" hitmaker shared the snap to celebrate Shelby piloting his first solo flight, understandably, her followers couldn't help but comment on her striking locks. "Your hair looks amazing," one person wrote. Another told the star, "It's giving Pretty Woman vibes!" in reference to the 1990 rom-com. Although, unlike McEntire, Julia Roberts' hair isn't naturally red (we know, we're stunned too).

We once saw Reba McEntire without her signature red hair

Though Reba McEntire has rarely strayed from her trademark red hair, she tried something new early in her career. During an appearance at The Lone Star Café in New York City in 1982, the Oklahoma native's red hair had been replaced by a light brown shade and we almost didn't recognize the country legend without her high-saturation hue. Although her tresses were curly, it didn't appear to be her natural curl pattern and was likely down to the perm (which we need to stop treating as a dirty word) the star got — and regretted. "In the early '80s I got a perm. I have natural curly hair. And so when my hair would be a little past my shoulders with a perm, it was just super tight because if you add a perm to natural curly hair, it looks angry. And it did," she told Glamour.

But we can't see the three-time Grammy winner ditching her red locks again. Not only has her hair become a huge part of her look and persona, McEntire's made it very clear she takes her natural color very seriously for a sweet reason. "The Voice" coach told Dallas Voice in 2015 she never disliked being a redhead, even as a kid, sharing, "I loved my red hair. My mom was a redhead, so I felt she gave me her red hair. I've always been very, very proud of it."
