Nicole Kidman's Daughter Sunday Rose Has Totally Transformed
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's daughter Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban may have lived a quieter life compared to some of her fellow nepo babies — like Shiloh Jolie Pitt, who lives a very lavish life – but Sunday Rose's transformation certainly hasn't gone under the radar. Her dad confirmed the exciting news of her arrival in January 2008 on his website, writing (via People), "Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today." The happy couple added to People, "We feel immensely blessed and grateful to be given this beautiful baby girl. She's an absolute delight." And they haven't stopped gushing about her since.
Kidman's dad, Antony Kidman, confirmed the couple put a lot of thought into their daughter's name, choosing it based on Sunday Reed. "I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John. She was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century," he told The Daily Telegraph (via Daily Mail). And the name Sunday Rose seemed particularly apt, as her parents have repeatedly gushed about her abilities in the arts. Kidman's daughter also made her presence known very early on, as the actor gushed to People, "Her personality started to show when she was in my tummy — she's lovely."
Sunday Rose has totally transformed since then, though. She's gone from a little girl with famous parents to an aspiring filmmaker and model, strutting the runway as a star in her own right. And her stunning evolution is a sight to behold.
2008: Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban and Nicole Kidman were joined at the hip from day one
Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban's strong bond with Nicole Kidman happened immediately, and that meant the lucky baby grew up visiting TV and movie sets around the globe. Speaking to USA Today four months after giving birth to Sunday Rose, Kidman lamented (via People), "The baby comes wherever I go." She added, "I just like looking at her, watching her breath. I stand over her crib and watch her breathe. It's pathetic. My mum says I'm over-bonded. I don't care. I'm just very bonded right now."
Kidman and Keith Urban chose not to share photos of Sunday Rose publicly, but the actor gave plenty of insight into what her and Urban's first child together (Kidman is also mom to Connor Cruise and Isabella Cruise, who she adopted with her ex-husband Tom Cruise) looked like. "She's got my fair skin, unfortunately. I wanted her to have dark skin. She's so pale and she has to wear zinc cream and hats. Poor Sunday. There's no frolicking on the beach!" she joked.
We got our first glimpse of the growing little girl in September 2008, though. Kidman and Urban had previously covered her in a blanket during candid outings, but they allowed shutterbugs to snap photos of their daughter as Kidman carried her through London. The two-month-old appeared to have inherited her mom's hair color, as her short, fuzzy locks had a hint of red and Kidman's hair is naturally curly with a gorgeous, fiery red hue.
2009: The youngster was already used to life as a jetsetter
Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban began living the high-life early. Thanks to her parents' jet-setting, busy lifestyles, she had more stamps in her passport before she turned two than a lot of people earn in a lifetime. Kidman told Extra she and Urban were raising their family on their Tennessee farm, but Sunday Rose had been enjoying the bright lights of Las Vegas because they jetted out to support Keith Urban at the ACM Awards. "She loves it. She's been out and about. I think because it's so colorful. It's big for her. She lives on a farm. This is a big city," Kidman said.
But it wasn't just the U.S. that Sunday Rose was already used to exploring. The little girl spent Easter 2009 in her parents' home country, despite Kidman and Urban's marriage having a few red flags we can't ignore. The family were snapped at the airport, heading to their muti-million-dollar home in New South Wales, Australia. The following November, Sunday Rose was back in the States and enjoying the aura of another big city, as she was spotted out and about with her mom in the Big Apple.
2010: Sunday Rose developed a passion for singing and dancing
With such creative parents, it was only a matter of time until Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban started to show some artistic flair. Nicole Kidman told Us Weekly that year that her daughter had a passion for singing, sharing, "She has a repertoire of about 30 songs: 'The ABCs', 'Twinkle, Twinkle Traffic Light' ... And 'So long, Farewell,' she was singing that as I left the house." The actor also shared how the then-2-year-old was already asking for beauty products. "She loves makeup. She's not allowed to wear it out of the house, obviously, but she pops on a little blush and some lip gloss!" Kidman said.
Keith Urban also touched on his daughter's love of music, as he told Us Weekly he hoped Sunday Rose would grow up to become a musician like him. "She's got some pipes. I think she sounds quite musical. I sit at the piano with her in the morning and we mash the keys together," he said.
Not only were Sunday Rose's interests transforming, she was also evolving physically. "I think she's a combination of both of us so far but she got my wife's legs, which is very lucky for her," Urban joked to People, suggesting his daughter was already showing signs of being tall like her mom (Kidman stands at 5-feet-11-inches, while Urban measures around 5-feet-8-inches). "She sure didn't deserve mine," the "Blue Ain't Your Color" hitmaker quipped. And long legs would certainly serve her well in her later years when she pursued a career as a model.
2011: She became a big sister
Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban was adjusting to a new normal in early 2011 when Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed their second daughter together via a surrogate. In a statement issued to BBC News, the couple shared the reality of their fertility journey, and told fans, "Our family is truly blessed and just so thankful to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret." They added, "[We thank] everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier."
The baby announcement came around the same time Kidman spoke candidly about how pregnancy changed her life. "Having my baby has been a healing experience. It took me so long to have a child. I feel enormous gratitude. Sunday has healed an enormous amount in me," the "Moulin Rouge!" star told DuJour. She also opened up about what life was like at home. "We have a wonderful home life. There's always music. Keith plays the guitar and piano and drums. He's always composing music. It's lovely when you have a baby who picks up the drumsticks and plays–wearing angel wings," she said.
During a "60 Minutes Australia" interview that year, Kidman spoke about how much Sunday Rose's hair had already transformed drastically. "Sunday had red hair, and then it went blonde. Sunday is very much her dad," she said, sharing a photo of Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret enjoying a nap together.
2013: Keith Urban's daughter honed in on her singing and dancing skills
After showing musical skills early, Nicole Kidman opened up further about Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban talents on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in 2013. "They play guitar and dance," she said of her daughters and husband, responding when host Ellen DeGeneres questioned if Sunday Rose sings a lot, "She does actually. She's got really good pitch." When DeGeneres suggested her and Keith Urban's eldest daughter could have a career as a singer, the "Australia" actor said, "I'd love it. The great thing about being married to a musician ... is you have music in the house all the time, so you just, there is something very joyful about having music."
In public though, we didn't see a lot of Sunday Rose of Faith Margaret — but that certainly didn't mean they weren't out in the world. Sunday Rose and her little sister joined their dad on his 2013 U.S. tour, with Kidman sharing they'd seen almost every corner of North America together. "I've been to Alabama and Indianapolis, and St. Louis, Detroit — yeah, we go all over!" she told Vanity Fair, confirming they'd been living together on a tour bus while the "Making Memories Of Us" singer was on the road.
2015: Sunday Rose had no plans to become famous and temporarily moved to London
In 2015, Nicole Kidman admitted that, despite her musical abilities, Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban hadn't caught the fame bug just yet. "I think they would actually run the other way. They're like, 'Nope, we're not interested,'" she told AZ Central of the chances of Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret Kidman-Urban become actors like her. But Sunday Rose's dreams certainly weren't set in stone, as the actor revealed her little girl had a few career ambitions. "Sunday wants to be a vet right now, and a party planner. Then she says she wants to be a stay-at-home mom and have eight children," she said.
One thing the youngster was sure about though? No more siblings. Kidman told "E! News" neither of her and Keith Urban's kids wanted another brother or sister. "No, they don't want any competition. I asked them if they wanted [that] and they were like, 'No, we're fine, actually,'" she said. The Australia native added, "But they want a dog."
Sunday Rose spent much of late 2015 in London with her family, where Kidman temporarily moved to appear in the theatre production "Photograph 51." Kidman told The Standard her daughters had attended school in the U.K. and did a lot of educational and fun activities in their downtime in the English capital. "[I've been] taking my kids to exhibitions and museums, ice skating at the Natural History Museum, driving into the country on Sundays," she said.
2019: Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban landed her first acting gigs
In 2019, Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban had her first foray into the acting world. She appeared in "Big Little Lies" alongside her mom and a fellow-A-List cast, including Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. "You see them fleetingly in the ... classroom scenes. There's something wonderful about bringing your children to work, and them seeing what you do, and them being a part of it, and being interested in curious and feeling like it's theirs as well," Kidman said on "Good Morning America."
The youngster's role may have only been a small cameo (she was credited as "School Child"), but Sunday Rose was clearly enjoyed her foray into the spotlight, because she took on another gig soon after. Also in 2019, she and Faith Margaret Kidman-Urban received voice acting roles in "The Angry Birds Movie 2." Their characters didn't have names, but Sunday played a small, yellow bird while her sister lent her voice to a small, purple bird.
2020: Sunday Rose's artistic passions turned toward filmmaking
Clearly, Nicole Kidman's career rubbed off on Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban. The actor told news.com.au in 2020 that Sunday Rose had developed a penchant for filmmaking and took her passion very seriously. "My oldest [Sunday] wants to be a filmmaker and she makes films every weekend. The little one [Faith] is battling to get in them, but she had a tantrum and wouldn't say the lines. And actually, I got fired last weekend," Kidman shared, admitting Sunday Rose would regularly tell her sister she couldn't be a part of her fun projects.
Kidman and Keith Urban clearly took Sunday Rose's career aspirations seriously too, as they proved to be very supportive parents. Speaking on "American Country Countdown" that year, Urban shared, "We'd both love for her to be a director." He even shared they'd put the youngster in touch with a professional to learn a few tips. "She puts together these mini-films ... we even had this guy come over and teach them some editing, basic editing classes, and so she can put things together and cut the scene there and add it there and put some music under it. She's having a blast," he said.
2020: The Kidman-Urban clan hunkered down together as the Covid-19 pandemic took over
Also in 2020, Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban joined the world in locking down amid the Covid-19 pandemic and she, her sister, and parents rode out the pandemic in Nashville. Nicole Kidman explained how her family were coping to Deadline, sharing, "I have a little girl who's about to be 12 and I have a 9-year-old and that requires a particular form of mothering." She added, "You need to be there 24/7 because right now you are also doing their schooling. So you are doing their schooling and they are home. And you are dealing with all of the other emotions."
The "Bombshell" actor also opened up about how tough her daughters found the social side of lockdown. "The social distance has been very difficult for them. They are working through the emotions," Kidman told Glamour U.K. Referring specifically to Sunday Rose, she noted, "For a 12-year-old, it's about not being able to access friends easily — that's a whole thing which every parent will be going through."
We only got brief glimpses of the girls on social media amid the pandemic. Kidman celebrated Sunday Rose's 12th birthday with a sweet Instagram photo showing her hugging her the back of her head. She also posted another Instagram snap for Mother's Day that year, which showed her, Sunday Rose, and Faith Margaret with their backs to the camera and their arms around each other. Speaking on Britain's "Loose Women" via video link though, Kidman admitted she had no plans to let them get their own accounts yet. "I won't let them be on Instagram ... I have a 12-year-old right now who is chomping at the bit and wants to get into all of that," she said (via Daily Mail).
2024: Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban made her red carpet and runway debuts
We finally saw Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban looking gorgeous on the red carpet in April 2024 when she was 15-years-old. She stepped out with her mom, dad, and sister for the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala with hair much blonder than we saw four years earlier, suggesting she was following in Kidman's hair transformation footsteps. But her first big foray into the spotlight wasn't the only one that year. Six months after walking her first red carpet, the 16-year-old strut her stuff on the runway for a Miu Miu show during Paris Fashion Week. She was clearly ready to start living a more public life, as the teen also started her own public Instagram account, despite her mom's early reluctance.
Kidman admitted to Vogue Australia her daughter's foray into fashion had been a long time coming. "I told her, when she was 16 she was allowed to come to a show. She's wanted to go for a long time ... I'm like, 'No, no more.' It's a push-pull. I don't want to hold her back because I don't want to be coddling her," Kidman said. Sunday Rose also spoke to Vogue about how long she'd been waiting for the experience, sharing, "I've been wanting to do this for so long, so when the offer came through it was really exciting."
Kidman was clearly supportive of her daughter's transformation though, as she was ready to ensure Sunday Rose and her sister were well-dressed as they navigate their new life phases. "They go into my closet and it looks like a bomb's hit it. They go crazy in there. And then they just take a T-shirt!," she told Entertainment Tonight.
2025: Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban was a fully-fledged model, but still attended high school
Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban expanded her modeling résumé in 2025 when she landed another high-profile Paris Fashion Week gig with Miu Miu. But, despite her career majorly taking off, she didn't turn back on her education. "Whenever I'm walking down the hallway I feel like I'm strutting down to math class. Everybody will be like, 'I see you're doing your runway walk,'" she told Vogue. The model also shared she'd been given some tips from Miu Miu's head designer, Miuccia Prada, which helped her with her confidence. "I definitely do feel a lot more confident this time," she said. "I kind of feel like I've been able to express myself more this time."
Sunday Rose likely stayed so grounded thanks to her close bond with her parents. Nicole Kidman told Allure that year, "I'm very close to both my girls. I sit on their beds and discuss the most intimate things." The "A Family Affair" star added, "If they want to tell me to be quiet, they can. I'm able to apologize to them. I'm able to stand up to them. I very much like the relationship we have."
And it sounds like the next chapter in Sunday Rose's transformation will be super stylish, thanks to her mom. "I've saved all the red carpet dresses. I have them all beautifully boxed. They're museum pieces," Kidman told W, admitting she has no problem with her kids raiding her wardrobe (and potentially borrowing some of Kidman's spiciest outfits). "I'm like, 'Okay, what's mine is yours,'" she said. With the unwavering support of her parents and designer clothing on her back, we're certain we'll be seeing a lot more of Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban.
