Red Flags In Pete Davidson And Elsie Hewitt's Relationship That Are Hard To Ignore

Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt surprised the world in July 2025 when they announced via Instagram that they were expecting their first child together. Hewitt confirmed the news with a photo of herself sitting in front of her shirtless beau, posing with their hands on her stomach. She also included several other photos of herself and the "Saturday Night Live" star together, including a sonogram scan. But the pace at which they went from strangers to parents raised a few eyebrows, because this duo hasn't exactly taken things slow.

Davidson and Hewitt went Instagram official in March 2025, the same month a source told Page Six, "Although things are new for Pete, he really likes this woman." That May, TMZ revealed the two had moved in together and had actually been cohabiting for around two months. Their pregnancy announcement swiftly followed, just four months after they confirmed their romance.

While plenty of couples move fast and make things work, there's a chance the fast-paced nature of their relationship could come back to bite them. "When couples bring a child into the relationship without establishing a strong foundation, it can truly be a make-or-break experience," Nicole Moore, celebrity love coach and body language expert, exclusively tells Women. She adds, "It's possible that having a baby will deepen Pete and Elsie's bond, however, the stress of having a new baby could also exacerbate any cracks in their foundation. Pete and Elsie haven't been dating that long, so it's possible that they haven't found out yet if they are truly compatible long term." And that's not the only red flag she brought to our attention.

Pete Davidson has had a string of high-profile romances

There's nothing wrong with playing the field before settling down (just ask Taylor Swift's exes who have spoken out about their relationship), but Pete Davidson's history of dating in quick succession could be a red flag. To name just a few of his famous exes, you may be familiar with Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Kaia Gerber, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, and Emily Ratajkowski. "Davidson is famous for dating a string of famous women, and he appears to get into new relationships very soon after ending another. This could be a red flag as it may indicate that he jumps into relationships to avoid facing his own issues," Nicole Moore exclusively tells us. "If Pete hasn't taken the time to heal from his past breakups and get strong in his own identity apart from being in a relationship, this could show up as co-dependent behavior, which is a red flag," she adds.

Equally, it takes a strong and secure woman to date someone who has such a notorious slew of very famous, gorgeous exes in their past. Of course, Elsie Hewitt is a stunning, confident beauty in her own right who anyone would be lucky to be with. She's also dated a few recognizable people herself, having romanced Benny Blanco, Ryan Phillippe, and Jason Sudeikis. However, Davidson's packed dating past being so public could still lead to some insecure feelings.

He could have a history of infidelity

Though Pete Davidson hasn't publicly confirmed he's cheated in his past relationships, there's been much speculation about whether he had a wandering eye while dating Cazzie David. In 2018, the actor opened up on "The Howard Stern Show" about how his romance with Ariana Grande began. He shared that they met up after the Met Gala, which happened on May 7, 2018. "I was f**king s**tting my pants," Davidson recalled. Only, Us Weekly didn't confirm his split with David until May 16, 2018, with a source sharing, "There's a chance they get back together." That never happened, though, as he was busy romancing Grande, whom he proposed to that June (though they never made it down the aisle). The timeline is certainly a little suspicious and suggests Davidson may have started seeing the "We Can't Be Friends" singer before officially breaking things off with his ex.

If Davidson wasn't faithful and had deep, internal reasons for stepping out, that could be a major red flag for Elsie Hewitt. "If he hasn't healed what caused him to cheat, he is unfortunately very likely to do it again," Nicole Moore explains. Though cheating before isn't always an indicator someone will do it again, a 2018 University of Denver study found that someone who's cheated previously is three times more likely to do it again compared to someone without infidelity in their past. That's why an unfaithful past may be a relationship red flag to avoid.

Their relationship may have a power imbalance

Though Elsie Hewitt is a model and actor in her own right, it's hard to deny that Pete Davidson is the more well-known celebrity in their relationship. Because of that, the two may experience a power imbalance due solely to his notoriety and his net worth. According to Reality Tea, Hewitt is worth around $1 million. Davidson, though, has reportedly amassed four times that thanks to his career as an actor and comedian, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

As Nicole Moore previously shared with Women while discussing the relationship red flags we've noticed between Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, "While couples having disparate incomes is not always a problem, in some couples it turns into a power struggle dynamic." She further explained of that duo's dynamic, which could easily be transferred to Davidson and Hewitt's, "If Ryan operates as if Blake is fully his equal despite her earning less, then it's a green flag. However, if Blake feels she has to cede power to him because he earns more, it's a red flag."

Pete Davidson's history of addiction could cause problems

Having addiction issues in your past isn't an automatic red flag. However, it could become one if the person who struggled before doesn't continue prioritizing their sobriety. "Pete Davidson has been open about his addiction issues, and they may be a red flag if he's not fully healed from them," Nicole Moore tells Women. "Given the fact that Pete has already relapsed in the past, it's unfortunately likely that he may relapse in the future, and this could cause serious strain on his relationship with Elsie [Hewitt]."

Not only would Davidson's relapse be extremely dangerous for himself, but it could also put a serious strain on Hewitt and their unborn child. "Partners of addicts often experience worry and a sense of hyper-vigilance around their partner's behavior, so it's possible that Elsie may be stressed about Pete's addiction issues even if he is currently sober," warns Moore. "It's critically important for Pete to continue to work on his sobriety in order for his relationship with Elsie to be as strong as possible."

Though Davidson has checked himself into rehab and wellness facilities more than once, he made an admission during a 2024 tour stop that could be troublesome considering his past. The star told the crowd he still smoked marijuana, sharing (via Daily Mail), "I can't quit yet ... All I have is weed left, so it's almost over, but I'm holding on for a little bit longer." If Davidson has a handle on his marijuana use, it may not be a red flag for himself or those around him. But if it ever interferes with his relationship, that's a different story.
