Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton shocked the world when they announced their split in July 2015. The news of their breakup was made public the same day their divorce was finalized, with the two sharing in a statement issued to TMZ, "This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
The split seemed to happen in the blink of an eye — and Lambert's transformation followed suit as she joined the ranks of celebs who had an epic post-divorce glow-up. This country superstar didn't waste time resting on her laurels and came out of the tough time stronger than ever, as the years that followed her first marriage were packed with everything from hugely successful albums, to enviable confidence, to new love.
2015 - 2016 Miranda Lambert found new love and put her heartbreak into song
Much like Blake Shelton, who moved on quick with Gwen Stefani (which is one of Shelton and Stefani's biggest red flags we can't ignore), Lambert didn't waste much time getting back out there. That December, news of her new romance with fellow musician Anderson East was made public.
The star stayed mainly under the radar amid the news of her divorce and fresh romance, but she returned to the spotlight to release her sixth album, "The Weight of These Wings," in late 2016. She dropped the lead single, "Vice," that summer, which reached the top spot on iTunes, and Lambert celebrated the achievement with a heartfelt message on Instagram. "The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing, ... Of learning to be honest .... Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles. Finding peace in dark places ... having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings... All of them," she wrote. Much of the album is believed to have been inspired by her split from Shelton, as she told Billboard, "If you want to hear my side of the story or my opinion of what happened, it's all on there."
The country hitmaker also reflected on her high-profile breakup and big life change to Cosmopolitan, telling the outlet, "We were together for 10 years, married for four, were very quickly divorced, and are friends. I'm still processing everything and figuring out where to go and what happened."
2017 - 2018: She embarked on a tour and fell out, in, and out of love again
Miranda Lambert was ready to get back on the road following the release of "The Weight of These Wings." She embarked on her "Highway Vagabond Tour" in early 2017 and made a huge splash on stage, including giving one of the most poignant performances of her career. At that year's ACM Awards, she gave a heart-wrenching, stripped back performance of her hit "Tin Man." "This was one of my most nerve wracking performances. Just me and my guitar. Nothing to hide behind," she wrote on Instagram. But her very busy, high profile, few years on the cover of every gossip magazine wasn't about to slow down just yet.
Us Weekly confirmed Lambert and Anderson East had split in early April 2018 and reported around two weeks later that Lambert was dating another musician, Evan Felker. But that romance raised a few eyebrows, as Felker was still legally married at the time. Lambert and Felker's relationship didn't last too long, though. The "Little Red Wagon" singer told The Tennessean four months later that she was officially single and was taking stock of a whirlwind time in her life. "Love is a hard road sometimes and it's been a roller-coaster ride for me, but I'm definitely thankful for all the ups and downs because I've had some really good songs come out of it," she said. "You've got to take the bad parts and put them on paper and then move on to the happy parts."
2019 - 2020: Miranda Lambert secretly got married and found a 'comfortable place' with her body
Miranda Lambert wasn't so single in 2019, though. She shocked the world that Valentine's Day when she announced on Instagram she was "Settling Down" again and had secretly married Brian McLoughlin. "I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full," she captioned several photos from their big day. Lambert also underwent a physical transformation on the CMA Awards red carpet as she sported a flattering and edgy, cool blonde hue with dark roots; a celebrity blond shade that inspired our next salon trip.
But it wasn't just her love life and hair that had totally changed since her divorce. In an interview with Health, she confirmed she'd learned to feel comfortable with the way she looks after a difficult journey to self-acceptance. "My whole life, I've struggled with ups and downs in weight ... I've hit a comfortable place," she said. "It's so good to find your place," she added, sharing she no longer felt self-conscious on stage. The "Gunpowder and Lead" singer also revealed the transformational life lessons she'd learned in the 15 years since she released her debut single. "The biggest thing I've learned is to be a person, too — instead of working constantly and getting lost and letting little moments fly by because I'm too busy thinking about the next thing ... I'm calmer now and more aware of my surroundings," she said.
Her newfound confidence was followed by a well-deserved break as the COVID-19 pandemic reared its head. "I didn't do much in the beginning of 2020," Lambert told "Taste of Country Nights." "And then in the last six months or so I kind of worked overtime to make up for lost time."
2021 - 2022: Miranda Lambert opened her own bar and celebrated a career-defining win
In 2021, Miranda Lambert made a huge move outside of the music world that cemented her transformation into an all-round entertainer. The singer opened her own bar and restaurant in Nashville, called Casa Rosa Tex-Mex Cantina. "This place is special to me and I'm happy to be representing the ladies here in Music City!" she told The Tennessean.
Another big year followed, as Lambert was honored with a hugely prestigious award at the 2022 ACM Awards. The superstar landed her first ACM Entertainer of the Year gong and shared how much the win meant to her in a video she posted on Instagram. "I've been waiting for this for a really, really long time," she said. "I actually never thought it would happen," she added. Lambert shared a similar sentiment in the caption, writing, "I can't believe this is happening. Beyond thankful. I love country music."
2023 - 2025: She celebrated her 40th birthday and made a dramatic career change
Miranda Lambert celebrated a major life milestone in 2023 when she turned 40. The star shared snaps from her party on Instagram, writing in the caption, "The absolute best birthday my Texas heart could ask for ... I've just been overwhelmed with gratitude and love for everyone that came to scoot your boots with me ... cheers to 40!" That same year, she took on another big project away from her microphone and guitar. Lambert released her own cookbook, "Y'all Eat Yet?: Welcome to the Pretty B***hin' Kitchen," which had an important message. "The whole picture is the importance of finding amazing women around you and lifting each other up and going through the hard stuff and the great stuff together," she told PopSugar.
Lambert celebrated another milestone in 2024 when she released her 10th album, "Postcards from Texas," – but that came after a huge career change. She parted ways with Sony after almost 20 years and signed a recording deal with Republic instead, which relit her creative fire. "Music is and always will be the thing that drives me, but having a new home has given me a hunger I didn't realize I still had inside me," she said in a statement (via Variety).
And she certainly wasn't slowing down. In 2025, the singer embarked on a huge tour alongside one of country music's biggest stars, Morgan Wallen, and demonstrated her enviable confidence again while clapping back at the haters. After an Instagram troll called her out for wearing leggings in a photo posted in February 2025, Lambert expertly clapped back (via People), "Good to know! I'll do better about displaying my 'unattractive parts.'" But, as her stunning transformation proves, she really doesn't have any.
