Since the collapse of her 17-year marriage, Lauren Boebert's love life has turned into a public spectacle. The fallout was messy, even by political standards. But it did mark the start of a new chapter. For most people, that might involve getting clued up on the best tips for getting back into dating after a divorce. Unfortunately for Boebert, she's been fumbling through that chapter in full view of the cameras, sending the relationship rumors swirling.
The chaos kicked off weeks before the ink was dry. In September 2023, Boebert was reluctantly escorted out of a Denver performance of "Beetlejuice" for vaping, singing along, and — quite staggeringly — engaging in mutual groping with her date. Boebert reached into his lap; he reached for her chest. You'd be forgiven for not believing this, had TMZ not released the CCTV footage. Speaking to The Colorado Sun, Boebert chalked it up to the emotional toll of the divorce, saying it had been "a challenging personal time for me and my entire family." "I've tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values," she added. We know there are weird ways a breakup can affect your health, but really, Lauren?
The rumors didn't stop there
The embarrassment didn't seem to hurt her prospects. In January 2025, TMZ caught her fangirling over Kid Rock at a Trump inaugural bash. A month later, Page Six spotted them sharing a cab in the early hours of the morning, sending the rumor mills swirling. Reports that Kid Rock had broken up with his fiance late last year surfaced not long after. Then, in May, they resurfaced together at his Rock N Rodeo event. A tweet posted by radio host Dana Loesch, showing her husband with Boebert and Kid Rock, had the unmistakable composition of a double date. But however messy she gets in the post-breakup PR war, who can deny the satisfaction of being the one to move on first?
This all came after the rumor mill circled back to Capitol Hill in June 2024, when Lauren Boebert posed with 50 Cent. She shared the photo on X, formerly Twitter, with a lyric from his song, 21 Questions: "I'd still love you if you flipped burgers at Burger King @50Cent, I used to do that myself!" The rapper reposted the image with a flirty caption that sparked the tabloid fog: "[The] Colorado Republican making the White House look good." When the photo began circulating like wildfire, he followed up with something even stranger: "I took pictures with everyone and all you seem to care about Lauren," adding, "What did she do in a dark theatre that hasn't been done, my God! Hey I don't have chlamydia by the way. LOL." Whether this was a deflection, a joke, or a layered accusation, no one could quite say.
Boebert's divorce was difficult
The Burger King reference also reached back to Boebert's own lore. In her memoir, "My American Life," she recounted quitting high school and working at the fast food chain when she met Jayson Boebert, who swept her off her feet. This might be read as romantic if the timeline weren't so troubling — she was 16, he was 22. When the couple drove to Las Vegas to marry, they were turned away: She was too young, even for Vegas.
Their divorce became public in May 2023 when, in a statement to the Colorado Sun, the politician said: "I've always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult." The court heard nearly 40 minutes of shouting between the pair, so it's unlikely they'll rank among the celebrity couples that are total "divorce goals" any time soon.
