Sydney Sweeney Is Nearly Unrecognizable With Mousy Brunette Hair

Sydney Sweeney's warm, cascading blond locks are not only as gorgeous as she is; the rich shade has also become synonymous with her glamorous and confidently sexy look. Not only does she lean toward light locks in real life, though, she also lent her luminescent blond to her most notable characters, including Cassie in "Euphoria," Olivia in "The White Lotus," and Bea in "Anyone But You." But she's not been blond in every role, because this superstar looked nearly unrecognizable with mousy brown hair in the trailer for the movie "Eden," which also stars Jude Law and Ana de Armas.

The actor's makeup was far less glam than she sports on social media and red carpets (though Sweeney also looks stunning without any makeup), but the biggest thing that made her look so drastically different was her much darker locks, which she wore pulled back. The dusky hue didn't warm her skin tone in the same way as her glossy blond, but made her look more mature and serious.

The star didn't appear to dye her hair for the role, though. Sweeney was blond when she was spotted out around the time she was filming and told Harper's Bazaar she uses wigs to stop her own hair showing the tell-tale signs of damage, much like the reason we hardly see Nicole Kidman's actual hair. "I started focusing on making my natural hair as healthy as possible before coloring it again, and utilizing wigs whenever I can," Sweeney said.

Sydney Sweeney isn't naturally blond

Though the dark hair color Sydney Sweeney wore in "Eden" wasn't her natural shade, it was closer than her signature blond. In a Glamour U.K. interview, the actor joked about her real hair color, stating, "The biggest misconception about me is that I'm a dumb blond with big t*ts." She then quipped with a laugh, "I'm naturally brunette."

The Washington native then told Harper's Bazaar U.K. in early 2023 that she was avoiding all the different types of hair dye to stop her natural hair getting further damaged from repeated coloring. "I'm kind of starting this haircare journey. I grew out my hair because the blond was completely killing it. So I decided I'm not going to color it anymore and I'm just gonna let it grow out," she said.

Sweeney seemingly showed the world her naturally darker tresses at a "Euphoria" event in 2022. Though her shoulder-skimming locks, which she dressed up with two gold clips, weren't as dark as in "Eden," her hair was a gorgeous light brown/blond hue that flattered her skin tone.
