Simone Biles Has That Gold Medal Glow Going Makeup Free
What's not to love about Simone Biles? She's talented, smart, and above all, incredibly confident. As one of the most decorated gymnasts of all time, she knows how to turn athleticism into a spectacle, thanks in part to her show-stopping routines and the glam she brings to them. Clips of her touching up her makeup during the 2024 Olympics went viral, while her gold eyeshadow look inspired numerous online tutorials.
But while Biles may have singlehandedly ushered in the new era for pressed powders, sans cosmetics, the Olympian still has a gold medal glow that has us doing backflips. In 2021, she understandably wasn't in a makeup mood during a trip to the beach. The star shared a breathtaking selfie on Instagram that showed her posing in a teal bikini and a Chanel denim bucket hat. Her complexion appeared to have a natural glow without a single visible blemish or patch of hyperpigmentation.Even without eyeliner, shadow, or faux lashes, her brown eyes sparkled. The star knows how important lip hydration is too, as her mouth was naturally matte but still moisturized without any signs of dry, peeling skin.
We also saw what Biles looks like when she wakes up in a 2020 Vogue video that revealed her skincare and makeup routine ahead of a competition. In the clip, the star looked absolutely stunning going makeup-free, as her smooth skin had a light shine that made her appear lit-from-within. Biles has always been blessed with a great complexion though, as she explained, "Naturally I've actually had pretty good skin growing up, in general." The pint-sized stunner also revealed a few of her favorite beauty products, including SK-II Facial Treatment Cleanser and SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, which she applies using a jade roller and is also a favorite of Erin Andrews, who's gorgeous going makeup free as well. The Olympic gold medal winner also uses SK-II Facial Treatment Masks.
Simone Biles has a refreshing approach to makeup
As much as we like seeing Simone Biles get glam before gymnastic competitions (though trust us, your skin will thank you for not wearing makeup to the gym), we love her refreshing approach to makeup even more. Speaking to Vogue, Biles confirmed she knows her worth goes far beyond her appearance. "For me, the importance of beauty in gymnastics, does not matter what you look like, it's what you do on the mat. Going into a competition, does makeup make me feel better? Yes. But it's what I do out there on the floor that really, really matters," she lamented.
The star also opened to Harper's Bazaar U.K. about how much her relationship with beauty products has changed over the years, explaining she started wearing cosmetics as an insecure teenager. Thankfully though, Biles' confidence has grown and she doesn't always feel she has to paint her face. "Now, I would still say my personal preference is always having a clean face and just being confident in who I am," she said. "I'll have semi-permanent lashes the majority of the time, even if I don't have makeup on, but I think that it's really special to fall in love with what your natural face looks like," she added. And that mantra is just another reason why Biles is a total queen.
