4 Signs Hailey & Justin Bieber's Marriage Won't Make It Another Year

Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber's marriage hasn't all been smooth sailing. Fans have noticed a few bumps in the road since the two tied the knot in 2018, and, as much as we hate to say it, we don't see their relationship lasting another year.

Justin has seemingly hinted at trouble in paradise, raising eyebrows in June 2025 when he shared a series of close-up, black-and-white photos of himself on Instagram with the caption, "Tired of transactional relationships[.] If I have to do something to be loved[.] That's not love." The "Sorry" singer didn't confirm exactly what his post was about, but fans made their own assumptions. One shared the upload on X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote, "justin bieber never beating the 'he hates hailey, [he's] in an unhappy marriage' allegations."

That came mere days after Justin shocked his Instagram followers when he shared a disappointing post that (sort of) celebrated Hailey's Vogue cover. "Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight, I told hails that she would never be on the cover of vogue. Yikes I know, so mean," he wrote (via Glamour U.K.) "...Because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even...I think as we mature we realise that we're not helping anything by getting even, we're honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection," he continued, apologizing to Hailey before deleting the caption. Though Bieber's apology showed growth, him telling his wife something so hurtful for such a petulant reason wasn't a good sign. And it's not the only one we've noticed amongst the red flags in Hailey and Justin's relationship. So we asked Nicole Moore, celebrity love coach and body language expert, for her opinion on why they might be headed for splitsville.

Whenever Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber are mentioned, many times, Selena Gomez is too. Though Justin and Gomez exhibited some of the biggest red flags in a Hollywood relationship, they dated on and off from 2010 until 2018 (the same year he married Hailey) and there's been plenty of speculation he may not be fully over his ex.

There are countless instances of Gomez being dragged into the Biebers' romance, including a source telling People around a month after Justin and Hailey's wedding, "[Justin] is not over Selena." The chatter's only continued since then, and Justin supposedly wasn't thrilled when Gomez announced her engagement to Benny Blanco in 2024. "When he heard that Selena was engaged, he'll even admit, it stung for a brief second," an insider told Daily Mail, but claimed Justin and Gomez would never get back together. Justin was then accused of referring to his ex when he posted a "The Lord of the Rings"' meme on his Instagram Story showing Gollum holding a ring, shortly after Gomez showed her engagement jewelry online. "Girls on social media when they get engaged," the caption read (via Buzzfeed).

"When the speculations are consistent for years on end, it indicates there may be some truth there," Nicole Moore exclusively tells us. And that's far from good news for Hailey. "When one partner is not over their ex, it's a huge red flag as they cannot be fully present and devoted to their new partner if a part of their heart is stuck in the past," she shares. "It definitely looks like Justin may have entered into their relationship with a heart that wasn't fully healed from his ex and that heartbreak may still be negatively impacting their relationship to this day."

Throughout 2024 and 2025, Justin Bieber's name hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. The star exhibited odd behaviour (including making hand gestures and rapping vulgar lyrics) during a May 2025 livestream – and Hailey Bieber's reportedly worried. "Hailey's been struggling with Justin almost since the start of the marriage. She loves him madly but he's a loose cannon," a Daily Mail source claimed, purporting her friends had urged her to walk away. "His behavior is sometimes unacceptable. She's put up with a lot," they added. In May 2025, Justin — who's actually very compatible with Hailey according to astrology — further concerned fans when he shared an Instagram photo that seemingly showed him using a bong. The following month, he posted a screenshot to Instagram Stories of him asking AI, "Has ketamine been used to control people's emotions" (via The Sun).

According to Nicole Moore, if Justin's using substances in an unhealthy way, his marriage may not last. "It often creates arguments and severe mistrust in the relationship," she exclusively tells us. "If Justin is abusing substances or even using legal substances but pushing past his limits, Hailey may feel unsafe in the partnership and angry that he's not showing up in a [healthier] way for her and for their child."

Hailey's spoken about the difficulty of supporting Justin amid his past substance issues. She told "VS Voices" in 2021, "Looking back on times of drug use and being in some dark spaces and having to kind of go back there and talk about it was extremely difficult." Though she hadn't experienced addiction herself, she said of Justin, "He has very, very good self-awareness when it comes to that and is very open about it."

Body language can tell us a lot about a couple's relationship — and we learn a lot when Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber step out. "There have been several instances where Hailey and Justin's body language set off major red flags," Nicole Moore exclusively reveals. "The couple has been spotted many times looking tense and there's been footage of what appears to be Justin yelling at Hailey," she says. Moore alludes to a social media video originally posted by Hailey and reposted to YouTube that showed the "What Do U Mean" singer raising his voice and declaring, "I wasn't trying!" after she beat him at a basketball game.

Moore also highlights a paparazzi video shared by The Hollywood Fix, which showed Justin exiting a car in 2021 and shutting the door on Hailey before walking away. Though Justin may have thought Hailey was using the door the other side, he didn't appear concerned for her well-being or willing to wait for her to get out the vehicle.

Then there's the glaring difference between their candid body language and the carefully selected photos they share online. "When Hailey posts pictures of her and Justin on social media, the pictures show them kissing or show him holding her and they appear close. However, in many of the candid shots of the couple, Justin's body language appears disengaged and disinterested," Moore says. "The stark difference in the couple's body language when the pictures are posted on social media versus when they are candid shots indicates that their relationship may be way worse behind closed doors," she adds. And, unfortunately, all that adds up to a relationship we just don't see lasting another months.
