Katie Holmes' 2025 Tony Awards Outfit Looked Like A Christmas Gift We Didn't Want To Open
Katie Holmes has had a stunning style transformation since divorcing Tom Cruise, but unfortunately, her 2025 Tony Awards outfit was just a mismatched mess. While Holmes is a style icon, known for her chic, laid-back dressing, even the "Dawson's Creek" star misses the mark sometimes. For the Tonys, Holmes showed up in an emerald green Prada top in a shiny silk material that featured bows in the back. The loose shirt was tucked into a light pink maxi skirt adorned with tiny crystals, and the two garments paired together resulted in a super odd ensemble.
Holmes shared her look on Instagram, and while she received a lot of praise for her 'fit, several fans slammed the pink and green combo. "Seriously Katie is the Style Queen. BUT Am I the only one who didn't like this outfit??" one posted. Another replied, "it's hideous. she is beautiful." Holmes' outfit earned strong criticism elsewhere on social media, too. One X user shared a screenshot of Holmes at the podium during the ceremony and wrote, "Not to be mean but Katie Holmes wtf is this." Perhaps it's time for the "Our Town" star to switch stylists, as she wore a similar outfit the year prior which was also a clashing eyesore.
Katie Holmes made another colorblocking mistake with pink and red
It seems Katie Holmes' stylist loves to mix and match bold colors, which doesn't always work. In October 2024, the "Pieces of April" star donned a blush pink and fiery red Carolina Herrera dress for the CFDA Fashion Awards, which Holmes credited to her stylist Brie Welch on Instagram. While pink and red can certainly go well together, the bubblegum shade of Holmes' bodice was far too pastel to complement the crimson skirt. A more neutral blush shade or a vibrant fuchsia would have been a better choice to make the colorblocking trend work.
Welch was also responsible for Holmes' Y2K skirt-over-jeans look at the 2022 Jingle Ball, which she got horribly roasted for. "Not flattering. Where's the stylist?" one Instagram user wrote. Another quipped, "Amazing from the shoulders up."
Welch defended her choice by telling The New York Times, "We decided the rich color and subtle bustier effect detailing of the top was elegant and would be fun if paired with jeans, creating a more youthful feel for Jingle Ball and the atmosphere there." It's clear the throwback look didn't deter Holmes from working with her stylist again, and despite some misses, the "Alone Together" star remains one of Hollywood's favorite fashionistas.
