We Found The Most Unique Summer 2025 Nail Trend & It's Good Enough To Eat
Summertime is all about trying fun beauty trends, so if you're looking for a delicious new way to spice up your digits, look no further than picnic nails. Last year, Hailey Bieber's manicurist showed us adorable little drawings of vegetables on the Rhode founder's nails, which she dubbed the "farmers market" manicure. Fruit-inspired manicures also took over in 2024, with people rocking watermelon and strawberry designs. 2025 is all about taking those trends a step further, with nail artist Evelyn Lim telling Who What Wear, "I'm excited to [expand on] the juicy fruits trend into vegetables and pantry items — a picnic on the nails!"
You don't have to stop with grapes, apples, and bell peppers. Think outside the box with picnic blanket-inspired gingham on your nails in pretty, summer-friendly colors you'll see everywhere in 2025. You can also mix and match tiny charcuterie items, such as cheese and salami. Or, if you're a fan of tiny insects, try ladybugs and adorable little ants. While getting your picnic nails done by a pro is probably your best option for precise application, you can create your own set at home as long as you have the proper tools and a steady hand.
How to do DIY picnic nails at home
Whether you need manicure ideas for short nails or your long almondetto ones, picnic nails are sure to stand out this summer. To create an easy-breezy gingham pattern base, prep your nails first by filing the edges and buffing the surface. Apply a base coat, followed by a light pastel color of your choice, such as baby pink or sky blue. If you want a neutral shade, white and light cream work as well. After the coat has dried, using a thin brush, carefully paint two vertical stripes and three or four horizontal stripes in a slightly darker hue. For a multi-dimensional effect, place a dot on the corners of the stripes to achieve that picnic blanket effect. Once the polish is dry, apply a top coat to set your artwork.

Now that you've mastered gingham nails, try your hand at drawing fruits and vegetables. One TikTok user had the brilliant idea of using the tip of a bobby pin dipped in polish to create the perfect rounded shape for strawberries, lemons, and cherries. Then, using a super-fine brush, you can add details such as the stems and seeds using a vibrant green and white for highlights. Once you're done with your picnic nails, celebrate with a fun outing and show off your creation that is sure to have everybody running to their nearest manicurist.
