Carrie Underwood Looks So Stunning With Her Hair's Natural Texture
Carrie Underwood has developed a penchant for long extensions as a country music superstar and usually wears her tresses in voluminous, loose waves. However, the singer's natural hair texture is a little different from the uber-styled looks that have become her signature. "I tend to have a natural curl in my hair ... but not a whole lot," she told HuffPost in 2015. "When I was in college, I would put a lot of product in my hair and force it to be curly. And I definitely did that on my first 'Idol' audition! I call it my 'crunchy' hair. That, I might like to undo if I could," she added. The Grammy winner shared a similar sentiment with HuffPost three years earlier, explaining she struggled to style her strands when she was younger. "My hair has a natural wave to it, but if you don't really know what to do with it, it's kind of hard. I would just put stuff in my hair, and it was like, crunchy. So if I could not do something, I would go back and not do that," she said.
Though we don't get to see the Oklahoma singer's un-styled tresses very often, she showed us what her hair looks like without a curling wand or straightener on Instagram in 2017. The "Good Girl" hitmaker looked gorgeous in a photo that showed her damp locks after a shower. In the snap, her mane was forming a slight wave as it dried with plenty of volume around her forehead.
Carrie Underwood often styles her own hair on tour
We got another look at Carrie Underwood's natural hair pattern in 2021 when the star's husband Mike Fisher uploaded a photo to Instagram showing the "American Idol" judge and former contestant with chest length locks as she celebrated her birthday. Underwood, who's worn very long and short hair looks, wore her light blond strands in a slightly off-center part with textured, beachy waves as she smiled for the camera. The snap proved she's learned her lesson in avoiding unflattering crunchy curls and also confirmed just how beautiful her natural look is.
The star has clearly learned a few tips and tricks for styling her waves, as she told HuffPost she doesn't always travel with a hairstylist when she's on tour. Instead, she prefers to get gussied up by herself before shows. "You can play. You can do things you wouldn't really do. You can put glitter on your eyes. Big hair. The bigger, the better," Underwood, who's stunning transformation is a sight to behold, said. "It's fun. It's a nice relaxing time, a calm before the storm, if you will."
