12 Celebs Who Totally Transformed After Taking Ozempic Or Other GLP-1's

It feels like Ozempic is everywhere in the celebrity world — and it's slowly seeping into the lifestyles of us mere mortals, too. According to Antlerzz, online searches for the GLP-1 semaglutide injection, which was originally intended for type 2 diabetes management, rose 170% in the U.S. between January and June 2023. That's a huge 1.2 million searches for Ozempic happening each month. It's hardly shocking so many of us are interested in the drug, seeing as countless celebrities have been candid about how it's helped transform their lives and bodies.

Oprah Winfrey has talked about her experience taking an unnamed weight loss medication, which changed her attitude about food. "[A]ll these years I thought that thin people just had more willpower, they ate better foods, they were able to stick to it longer ... and then I realized the very first time I took the GLP-1 that, 'Oh, they're not even thinking about it,'" she said on "The Oprah Podcast." "They're only eating when they're hungry, and they're stopping when they're full."

While the likes of Rebel Wilson and Sharon Osbourne have become poster children for Ozempic, other stars including Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan Trainor have been honest about taking a similar drug, Mounjaro, a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist injection that's also designed to suppress the appetite. If you're considering taking any weight loss drug, it's imperative to speak to a healthcare professional first, as experts warn Ozempic and other GLP-1's can have lasting consequences. Still, these famous faces demonstrate how the medication can potentially lead to significant weight loss.

Tori Spelling

Tori Spelling shared on her "MisSPELLING" podcast that, following the birth of her fifth child Beau in 2017, she used injections to help lose weight. "At my heaviest, I was 120 pounds my entire life," she said, adding she reached around 160 pounds during her fifth pregnancy.

The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star explained it was the first time she'd struggled to lose her pregnancy weight, despite working out and attempting other weight loss methods like intermittent fasting. "I couldn't lose the weight and the doctor was like, 'Well, it's an age thing,'" she said, explaining she was prescribed a hormone medication as she entered menopause.

The actor and reality star was also prescribed Mounjaro. "I'm no longer on it, but I did lose weight," she said, adding that she stopped using the injections around January 2024. Spelling added she'd tried Ozempic before seeing success with Mounjaro, but found Ozempic didn't give her the desired results. According to Drugs.com, almost 14% of people who try Ozempic don't lose weight.

Whoopi Goldberg

Despite Whoopi Goldberg confronting aging with confidence, she shared during a 2024 appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" that she began using weight loss injections around 2022 after being unhappy with her appearance in the movie "Till." "A woman thought I was wearing a fat suit," she explained, adding she weighed about 300 pounds at the time.

The star had a drastic transformation soon after, telling host Kelly Clarkson, "I'm doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help and it's been really good for me." She revealed her weight loss had been so successful that she'd lost the body weight of two people.

Goldberg also opened up about her transformation on "The View" in 2024, saying her weight loss had been aided by Mounjaro injections. "I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff, and one of the things that's helped me drop the weight is Mounjaro. That's what I used," she said.

Sunny Hostin

Whoopi Goldberg's "The View" co-host Sunny Hostin has also spoken honestly about using Mounjaro. The natural hair queen shared she gained 40 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic and wasn't happy with the way she looked, particularly on camera. "I was horrified by the fact that I would have to come out on air. So I also took Mounjaro," she said on "The View" in 2024, sharing the injection not only helped her lose weight but also resulted in lower cholesterol.

A 2023 study found Mounjaro, when used in 15 milligram doses, can potentially reduce cholesterol levels by almost 6%. "I use Mounjaro and my cholesterol is 140 now. I feel better, I think I look better, and that's what this is about for people," Hostin said, sharing her cholesterol level had peaked at 200 before.

Hostin also spoke candidly about her weight loss on "The View: Behind The Table" podcast, saying she felt no shame about taking the medication and believed it should be affordable for everyone. She also said she initially tried Ozempic, but experienced bad side effects, including constipation, and found it didn't aid her weight loss. Side effects of Ozempic can also include vomiting and diarrhea.

Rebel Wilson

Rebel Wilson had a drastic weight loss journey in 2020 that saw her lose 70 pounds after she turned to a healthier lifestyle — the Ozempic came after, as she was trying to maintain her weight, she told The Times in 2024. The "Bridesmaids" star candidly opened up about her transformation, sharing that her weight loss journey was inspired by a doctor who urged her to drop pounds before undergoing IVF treatment. She defended the use of injections for weight loss, saying, "Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good."

The star also spoke to People, opening up about her unhealthy relationship with food and exercise. "[I was] eating a whole tub of ice cream every night and then feeling bad about myself, making myself get up early in the morning and go to the gym for an hour and a half and running on that treadmill until sometimes my back would hurt," she shared.

Her changed attitude included more exercise and better informed eating habits. "People often think that there's some magic pill, or some sick special diet, or exercise regime or whatever," she said. "It's literally about working at a healthier way to deal with your emotions, and there is no magic solution. Maybe me telling my story might encourage them to do the same and make healthy change in their lives."

Sharon Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne fiercely defended Ozempic after losing 30 pounds while taking the medication in 2023. "It's not a dirty little secret when you've taken something to help you lose weight, which is perfectly fine," she told E! News

The former "The Osbournes" star got very candid about why she felt she needed to change her weight, explaining she'd previously struggled with her relationship with food. Osbourne stopped taking the drug after she hit less than 100 pounds, saying, "The heaviest I was 230 pounds and I'm now under 100. And I want to maintain at about 105 because I'm too skinny. But I'm trying to have a healthy balance."

In early 2024, Osbourne also spoke publicly about the aftermath of taking weight loss injections. For her, the effects didn't stop when she stopped using the shots, she said on the daytime panel show "Loose Women." "The injections that I was on worked and it just seems that now I can't put anything on," the former "The Talk" panelist said, adding that she was hoping to gain some weight back.

Dolores Catania

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Dolores Catania has been candid about using both Ozempic and Mounjaro to lose weight after being prescribed them by her doctor. "I took Ozempic, stopped and then begun Mounjaro. I was medically prescribed for both because I am insulin resistance/pre-diabetic and have a thyroid issue," she told The U.S. Sun in 2023.

The reality star explained that the price tag prompted her swap between the two medications, adding that she was still dedicated to regular exercise and a healthy diet in addition to the weight loss aid. "I work out regularly. There is no easy fix for weight loss and I have to watch what I eat," she said. Though Catania's decision to take the shots was more due to her medical conditions than wanting to lose weight, she shared she'd lost around 20 pounds.

Catania later defended using GLP-1's on Sherri Shepherd's show "Sherri." "There's no shame in it. If a doctor gives it to you, if you're doing things right, you're becoming healthier by losing weight," Catania said. "It's a bunch of great things that come along with this."

Meghan Trainor

Meghan Trainor's dramatic weight loss after the birth of her second child has been well-documented, and she's not shied away from sharing how she did it. In an March 2025 Instagram post, the "All About That Bass" hitmaker explained Mounjaro was partially responsible for her new figure. "I've been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me," she captioned the post. "I've worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy. And I'm so glad I did because I feel great."

Speaking on her podcast, "Workin' On It" that same month, Trainor said she began taking Mounjaro after discovering multiple people she knew had tried it, including doctors. "We heard more of our friends and even our doctors were on Mounjaro and Ozempic and all these drugs," she said, explaining she did a lot of research to determine which medication would be right for her before she and her husband, Daryl Sabara, began taking Mounjaro together.

Trainor has previously talked about her diet and exercise routine, noting that strength training works well for her. "I just look at all the years that I wasted doing hard cardio or trying to be a runner. My body was always just angry and inflamed," she told Women's Health. "I know now that my body enjoys lifting weights and it doesn't make you big and bulky."

Lauren Manzo

Lauren Manzo's weight struggles were well-documented during her family's time on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" and the spin-off "Manzo'd With Children." And the ex-reality star looks drastically different now than she did on the Bravo shows. Speaking on the Page Six "Virtual Reali-Tea" podcast in May 2023, Manzo said Mounjaro helped her lose 30 pounds in three months. "I get it, people don't like it, people don't applaud it, people aren't whatever, but it's a shot in your stomach once a week," she said. "You guys have seen me struggle with this since I'm 20 years old, and it's been really hard for me."

Manzo also slammed anyone who uses GLP-1s irresponsibly. "People that are already 130 pounds and just want to lose 10 more and they want to stay on it. That, I don't respect," she said.

Later that year, Manzo confirmed on Instagram that her drastic physical change wasn't just down to the medication. She also cut gluten and dairy out of her diet and used other methods to lose weight, including functional medicine and surgery. In 2024, Manzo confirmed on Instagram she'd lost 100 pounds.

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson has spoken a lot about her weight loss journey, including her experience with an unnamed weight loss drug. Back in 2015, she told Redbook, "There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism — that is not me." That may explain why, almost a decade later, she confirmed she'd taken weight loss medication.

"Mine is a different one than people assume," she said on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in May 2024, not naming the drug. "My doctor chased me for two years, and I was like, 'No, I'm afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems.' Everybody thinks it's Ozempic, it's not. It's something else, but it's something that aids in helping break down sugar. Obviously, my body doesn't do it right," she said, adding she once weighed 203 pounds at 5-foot, 3-inches tall.

Clarkson, who's also been honest about taking antidepressants, said her new weight is down to more than just the drug, though. Speaking to People in early 2024, she said a healthier diet and exercise routine helped her lose weight. "I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I've been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn't. And 90 percent of the time I'm really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway," she said, also revealing she naturally began walking more after moving from California to New York.

Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates lost 80 pounds over seven years after making diet and exercise changes, and was able to lose another 20 pounds after starting Ozempic. But, speaking to People in 2024, the "Matlock" star debunked the assumption that losing weight was instantly easier because of the drug. "I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It's very hard to say you've had enough," she said.

Bates started making lifestyle changes in 2017, after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. In 2019, she celebrated losing 60 pounds, telling Us Weekly, "It took a few years. I would say you have to be really patient ... I don't like the word willpower, but I like the word determination." The former "The Office" actor explained in another People interview that her weight loss made working as an actor easier. "Now that I've been able to get really healthy, I can move, I can breathe, I can have fun, I'm not sore," she said.

Caroline Stanbury

Speaking to Us Weekly in 2024, "The Real Housewives of Dubai" star Caroline Stanbury shared she lost 18 pounds with Ozempic. Stanbury explained she'd been working out regularly but was struggling to lose the weight she gained after undergoing IVF treatments in 2022. "Ozempic, I have to say ... is an incredible tool. Why do you need to be miserable if you can get yourself back to where you were? I didn't want to be different. I didn't do my face to look like a supermodel. I wanted to be me, but younger," she said.

Stanbury shared that she stopped using the injections after she lost the weight, but confirmed she would happily take Ozempic again if she felt she needed to. "Why not maintain it? But right now, I've been really lucky [and] I don't need it right now," she said. Two months later, however, she shared on Page Six's "Virtual Reali-Tea" podcast that she was taking Mounjaro.

Amy Schumer

Not everyone's experience taking Ozempic has been positive, and Amy Schumer is one of the stars who hasn't been afraid to share the negative experience she had with the drug. Speaking on "The Howard Stern Show" in January 2025, Schumer, who's said a lot about her weight loss journey, said she took Ozempic around 2022 but had to stop because it resulted in severe nausea. "I lost 30 pounds so quick. I looked great, and I couldn't lift my head off the pillow. So what's the point?" she asked.

Schumer also talked about her experience on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" in 2023, explaining (via Page Six), "I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn't play with my son. I was so skinny and he was throwing a ball at me ... [I] was like, 'Okay, this isn't liveable for me.'" She also encouraged other Ozempic users not to keep it a secret. "Everyone has been lying saying, 'Oh smaller portions.' Like shut the f*** up. You're on Ozempic or one of those things," she clapped back.

But Schumer's difficult first GLP-1 experience didn't deter the "I Feel Pretty" star from giving the shots another go. In an Instagram video posted in March 2025, the actor and comedian shared she was perimenopausal and had been taking estrogen, progesterone, and Mounjaro. "I'm having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that," she said.
