The Zodiac Signs Most Likely To Cheat In A Relationship
Unfortunately, cheating isn't uncommon. Granted, not everyone does it, but enough do so it can become a concern when you find yourself in a relationship, especially if you've been burned before. But exactly why people cheat really runs the gamut.
According to a 2020 study published in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy, people who had cheated cited anger at their partner, low self-esteem or low commitment, feeling unloved or neglected, a need for sexual variety or a waning sexual desire, or circumstance. The latter of which were attributed to being intoxicated or feeling stressed out. But if you're someone who believes in astrology, you may look toward other factors that play a role in why someone would cheat. For example, someone's sun sign. It does, after all, affect personality traits and certain personalities could contribute to why someone might be unfaithful.
While there's no guarantee that one sign will absolutely, positively cheat, there are predispositions that some signs have that just might make them more likely to be unfaithful than others. Does this mean you should break up with your partner because their sign is on the list? No way. It's just something to keep in the back of your mind.
Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
According to Bonobology, Geminis get bored much easier than the other signs. While they make for really fun and loving partners, if you reach a point in the relationship where you can't keep up with them, it's possible that they might start looking elsewhere."Gemini, being a mutable air sign, can be one of the worst culprits for cheating," astrologer Clarisse Monahan told Bustle. "Gemini has an incessant need for stimulation and gets bored easily in relationships."
Gemini's planetary ruler is Mercury, meaning this sign should excel at communicating — and they generally do — but not in the most productive way. Instead, they dance around topics, love to tell tall tales, use their way with words to manipulate situations, and struggle to listen (via Vice). It's all this flitting about and inability to focus that makes their interest in things sort of willy-nilly. Not in a mean, vindictive way, but that's just who they are. If you want to keep a Gemini from cheating, be ready to dedicate a lot of your time to keeping them stimulated and reading between the lines. It's not really in their personality to be upfront about what they're thinking and feeling.
Libra (September 23 to October 22)
Depending on where you look, Libra takes the top spot when it comes to cheating. In fact, research shows that Libra and Gemini — both of which are air signs — tend to be in competition for who is the most likely to be unfaithful. A survey by Illicit Encounters found that Libras have a 16% chance of cheating and Geminis have a 14% chance, per The Hits.
"Libra is the most likely to cheat," sex and relationship expert Jessica Leoni told Femail. "Not surprising at all. Libras are social butterflies, who dislike being alone. If a Libra is married to someone who isn't always available — it's only natural they'd be seeking validation and company elsewhere."
It also doesn't help that Libra can be extremely self-indulgent, superficial, and indecisive, according to YourTango. If you have someone who puts beauty and their needs above everything else and adds an inability to make decisions to the mix, you can have quite a disaster on your hands. That's what Libra is — or can possibly be.
Aries (March 2 to April 19)
Although Aries is a fire sign, what it shares with Libra and Gemini is the need to be satiated at all times. Extremely competitive and sometimes overly confident, Aries doesn't like to mess around when it comes to everything, including relationships.
"Never underestimate an Aries's eye for value," astrologer Annabel Gat told Bustle. "As a Cardinal sign and the first sign of the zodiac, they tend to be 'first' at things, and as they gain experience, this quick-moving fire sign gets very good at figuring out what's a waste of their energy and what's worth their investment, what will bring the best pay off or best value."
It may not be nice to say, but if Aries no longer sees value in their partner, they might start looking around for something that's more worth their time. But just remember, if you're dating an Aries, your worth should never be tied to their opinion of you. Their obsession with valuable things is on them.
Leo (July 23 to August 22)
Leos have some personality traits that are less than stellar. For starters, they think the whole world revolves around them, they're super self-involved, narcissistic, egotistical, and often very much unaware of the fact that they should really get control of their bad traits, according to InStyle. Not only that, but a 2019 survey by EduBirdie found 36% of Leos have cheated before, or at least came dangerously close to doing so, per Betches. But it's hard to be surprised when we're dealing with someone who's the most pompous and arrogant of the sun signs.
If you want to keep a Leo from cheating, your best bet is to indulge their ego by praising them and validating everything they say and do, per Astrotalk. Seriously. Leo needs to be told constantly how fabulous, important, interesting, and beautiful they are. Of course, in being Leos, they already feel this way about themselves, but hearing you say it too is the icing on the cake for them.
It can't be stated enough that these are possibilities and not something that's definitive or based in science. Of course, anyone can cheat for any reason, and in many of those cases, it's not necessarily linked to an astrological sign.
