BRUNCH: Donald Trump, Tacos, and Cyber Bullying
Brunch: Your bite-sized bits of daily news.
2. Demi Lovato Quits Social Media
Well, all social media except snapchat, that is. After a making a comment about how Ariana Grande is more talented than Mariah Carrey, Demi spent the last week being verbally pelted with hate over social media. She posted on Twitter yesterday, saying "I like snapchat cause I don't have to see what some of y'all say. Follow me if you want: theddlovato". What does this bring up for us? Mostly how cyberbullying can hurt: don't forget the words you say behind a computer screen are being read by a human with feelings. No one deserves that kind of hate.
3. Gun Control Voted Down
Yesterday in the Senate, four gun control policies failed after heated debate and disagreement. Two of the proposals related to terror watch lists, while the other two had to do with background checks. Democrats were in favor of anyone on the watch list being banned from buying a gun, and having it be a requirement that every gun purchaser go through background checks. Republicans wanted those on the watch list to be put on hold for up to three days before they were allowed to make their purchase, and wanted to legally clarify the definition of being mentally unsound to buy a gun. While nothing was resolved, policy-makers were required to take a stance on the controversial gun policy reform.
4. Donald Trump fires Campaign Manager
Corey Lewandowski is no longer working for Donald Trump, after months of controversy and complaints (including from Trump's kids themselves!). Only weeks before the GOP convention, this could cause quite the stir with the Republican party. Evidently the Trump campaign is beginning to understand that they need a major PR overhaul if they intend on continuing forward towards the White House.
