Too many of us have seen the heartbreaking image of an abandoned kitten or dog left on the side of the road by owners who didn't want them. Sometimes it can seem completely unfathomable to imagine who would leave these poor animals out to fend for themselves without a home.
Although this adorable animal isn't the typical kitten or puppy, it still reminds us just how helpless abandoned animals can be, and how important it is for people to take care of their pets.
This young goat was left on the side of the road in a cardboard box, with only a white teddy bear to keep her company. According to the people who saved her at Puget Sound Goat Rescue, she couldn't have been more than a couple of days old when they found her.
Thankfully, the little goat, who they later named Millie, didn't have to wait too long outside before a family took her in and cared for her with goat milk bottles until the Puget Sound Goat Rescue could come save her.
The rescuers decided on the name Millie based on its meaning of bravery, strength, and determination, saying the name is “perfect for this precious little girl.”
They wrote on Facebook, “How anyone could abandon this sweet little baby is beyond our imagination.” The group also happily reported that she is now thriving in the friendlier environment.
The Rescue saves about 80-90 baby goats per year, most of them boys, Sarah Klapstein with the Puget Sound Rescue told Kiro 7.
Their goal is to ensure that abandoned goats are able to find a loving home.
Luckily, Millie is now thriving at the Rescue as they are finalizing plans for her adoption. She has made many friends and is loving, curious, and playful.
