Why Aren't Female Celebrities Allowed To Age?
>

Our cultural obsession with celebrity women's looks hasn't changed, as women are still expected to appear ageless but get slammed if they achieve this through "unnatural" means.
After her 2023 Grammy appearance, Madonna was torn apart for her looks, and a New York Post op-ed claimed Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore were aging better (whatever that means).
A woman is expected to age gracefully, but if she chooses to get work done, it should look like she didn't, creating an obsession with aging celebrity women that no one can win.
This backlash creates a 'damned-if-you-do and damned-if-you-don't' scenario that impacts the mindset of everyday women who may be unable to afford, nor want, to have work done.
Actor Patricia Arquette says, "I'd love to not have to talk about it anymore. I don't think the men are talking about it at all. Aging is just normal! That is all there is to it."
While we can see how our cultural obsession with aging impacts celebrities, it creates an impossible world for non-famous women and can affect self-esteem.
