Never Switch Up The Order Of Your Skincare Routine - Here’s Why

Dermatologists and skincare experts will agree that it’s best to apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency. That being said, cleansing should always be the first step.
Next comes toners, serums, and spot treatments which are followed by heavier moisturizers, eye creams, and sunscreen. Apply products quickly after cleansing to retain moisture.
Toners and serums, particularly, should be applied after cleansing and before moisturizing since a toner will help remove excess dirt and prep the skin for other products.
For serums, as they are water-based, applying them before heavier, oil-based moisturizers is advisable. Otherwise, the skin may struggle to absorb their ingredients effectively.
Limit the use of serums to three at most to prevent overwhelming the skin. Failing to use skincare products in the correct order can cause breakouts and damage your skin.
