The world of theater is pretty wonderful! The stage, the lights, the music, the actors, and more! There is so much to love about the world of theater but in order to fit in with this world, you have to be able to keep up with all of its proper lingo! There is quite a bit of lingo to learn in order to know what directors, producers, actors, and choreographers are talking about! Taking stage directions is just the beginning! Did you know that an "All Call" is a request for volunteers to come in from the outside to help make a production happen! Volunteers come together to bring a production to life by helping with construction, art, platform setups and more! A woman named Carmen Mandley originally coined this term! Terms like Dress parade, Dress Rehearsal, Dry Tech, Fire Curtain, and fly rail are also used around the backstage of a theater production! Being an actor or actress in the center of the stage during a performance probably feels invigorating and exciting but it is a much better feeling when you know exactly what to do based on the communication that is being shared between yourself and the rest of the theater crew. There is a lot to learn when it comes to looking over a glossary list of theater words and phrases but it is worth the time and it is definitely worth the effort!
