Hillary Clinton Is Donating Harvey Weinstein’s Contributions To Charity
Money, Money, Money, Monnnnn-AY!
Big Bad Wolf
Like so many public figures Hillary Clinton had no knowledge of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged history with sexual violence. A donor to the democratic party, Weinstein held fundraisers and contributed to both Clinton and Obama campaigns. Barack and Michelle Obama released a joint statement days after the allegations came to light.
"Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein. Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status. We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture- including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect- so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future.”
Not Without Criticism
Clinton echoed the same sentiments, “I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein. The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior.”
By donating campaign contributions, Clinton joins the ranks of many democratic candidates such as, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Kirsten Gillibrand. Critics of Hillary say she took her time when reacting to the news of Harvey Weinstein and that the 10% of her salary she donates to charity, annually, doesn’t necessarily mean Weinstein’s specific donations will go towards a cause.
