We're always looking for ways to improve our health and our lives. Being healthy both mentally and physically is at the core of being happy. Here are 10 things you should do every day in order to stay and feel healthy.
1. Get Enough Sleep
Beauty sleep is real, and naps are great too. Lack of sleep leads to feeling unhappy and higher chances of getting sick and making unethical decisions. In fact, sleep actually does help with your decision-making.
2. Eat Healthy Foods
The foods we put in our bodies help to fuel our everyday lives so that we can accomplish the things we want. Giving your body the proper nutrients it needs keeps your skin clear and glowing and your inner organs healthy and functioning.
Yoga, running, swimming, sports. Whatever you're into, get up and get moving. And do it consistently. You'll be happier, smarter, and healthier among many other things.
4. Spend Time In Nature
Breathing in fresh air and walking around outside is extremely peaceful and frankly underestimated. You can lower your stress and boost your creativity by just stepping outside and being with some trees for a bit.
5. Learn Something New
Challenging yourself to learn something new keeps your mind sharp and brings a new mini-adventure to your everyday life. You don't have to master something new every day, but putting in a little effort each day allows you to work towards a larger goal.
6. Laugh More
People who use humor to cope with stress have better immune systems, reduced risk of heart attack and stroke, experience less pain during dental work and live longer. Think of laughter as a daily vitamin you absolutely need to be taking.
7. Spend Time With Loved Ones
Not only will you build stronger bonds between the people closest to you, but spending time with loved ones also battles loneliness, depression, and stress.
8. Strive To Be Optimistic
It's simple, people who are happier are healthier. Teach yourself to be more confident in situations where you would normally be insecure.
We're all too often overthinking about the happenings of the world around us, we can sometimes brush aside the things that are happening inside of us. Meditation allows you to take a look inward and focus your energy on repairing and maintaining your mental health.
10. Express Gratitude
However you decide to do this, acts of service, giving gifts, saying thank you, writing down what you're grateful for, expressing your gratitude not only makes you feel happier and healthier, it also shows others around you that you care about and appreciate them.
tl;dr: take more naps, light a candle, talk to your friends, eat your veggies.
