Recorded music has been around just a little over 100 years and has been listened to in dozens of formats in that time. This quiz tests your ability to decipher which decade the format is from. Are you up for the challenge?

From wax cylinders to streaming, recorded music has never fallen out of favor since its beginnings in the late 1800s. Imagine what it must have been like to be able to hear your favorite musical compositions in the comfort of your own home for the first time and be able to listen to them repeatedly too! With this new way of appreciating music, you didn't have to travel to hear it performed live as people did in the past.

Music formats have been varied and plentiful over the last 130 years. Some lasted for less than a decade while others have endured for over half a century. All of them were created with the intention of not only of making music sound the best it can but with making it easy to acquire and access at any time.

If you are a fan of 78s, you may listen to them on an old Victrola. If you grew up on Elvis, a portable record player might be more your speed.
