The band hailed from San Francisco and were part of a vibrant music scene that included Janis Joplin, The Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Moby Grape, and countless others! Even after the heydey of the hippies, the Dead continued to captivate audiences. "Deadheads" as ardent fans of the band became known, followed the group from city to city and becoming a phenomenon in their own right. Even after the band finally disbanded, Deadheads still follow different iterations of the group to this day.
