Best Podcasts for Long Morning Commutes

Long commutes can feel like such a drag, especially when you're sitting in traffic. I will share with you my secret to help pass time on my way to and from work: Podcasts.

That's right. Listening to podcasts has helped me relax in stressful traffic and doesn't make my commute seem too bad. Going to work takes me about an hour and 20 minutes and going home about an hour. Now my commute is probably not as bad as others, I understand, but sitting in traffic for any amount of time can drive anyone crazy.

Although I don't mind the drive, I have to give it to my library of podcasts that help me through. I am no podcast expert, just an avid podcast listener and supporter who has collected a list of podcasts from family members, coworkers, and friends.

1. Generation Why

I have been a Generation Why listener for quite some time and I absolutely love it. Given it is not like other murder mystery podcasts where people are brought in to talk and professionals give their two cents, I still enjoy listening to two guys talk about cases. I have my favorites definitely, but overall, all their episodes are a pretty good listen.

2. Monster: The Zodiac Killer

I recently added this to my library, but I have to say it has me hooked. Murder mystery podcasts are not for everyone, and this podcast might be too intense for some listeners, but it has to be one of my new favorites.

3. Serial

One of the more popular podcasts Serial is always a great listen and has been one of my favorite podcasts for sometime now. Podcasts with longer episodes like Serial seem to be the perfect remedy to a long commute.

4. Story Corps

If I finish a longer podcast episode early and still have some ways to drive, I'll listen to one or two episodes from Story Corps. I love the realness of the stories and it's a great escape. Short and sweet.

5. You Must Remember This

An oldie but goodie for me, a coworker of mine reminded me about this podcast and I have recently started listening to it again. The scandals and stories behind the stars are everything.

These podcasts might not be to everyone's liking but it has helped me pass the time on the freeway to work and the drive back home. It allows me a small escape from all the hustle and bustle.
