Have you heard? In Riverdale season 2 episode 18, Carrie: The Musical is coming to Riverdale High with Carrie played by none other than Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch)! After last week's intense episode in which Tony (Vanessa Morgan) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) plans a rescue mission for Cheryl, a musical seems like just the right amount of lightheartedness the residents of Riverdale need! Carrie: The Musical might not exactly be sunshine and rainbows, but we suspect it will definitely lead to a memorable and entertaining episode of Riverdale!

What To Watch For In Riverdale Season 2 Episode 18

In Riverdale season 2 episode 18, the drama department choose Carrie: The Musical as the spring production! It seems that the musical will be paralleling real life events in Riverdale, serving as a metaphor. After being subjected to conversion therapy, it's likely that Cheryl will want her own revenge much like Carrie does. It seems that Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will be at each other's throats as well, both in the play as good Sue Snell and school bully Chris Hargensen and in real life. It seems that Alice (Mädchen Amick) joins the play as Carrie's mother Margaret in an effort to keep an eye on her daughter.

Spoilers For Riverdale Season 2 Episode 18

During the recent Riverdale panel at PaleyFest, executive producer Greg Berlanti talked a bit about the musical episode of the show, including how the show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa came up with the concept for doing Carrie. "I loved his take on it, too, doing Carrie, which was not incredibly well received when it first premiered, but he had a love for it and really just fit so well with the story lines they were doing. I think it's given its due with the show." Also during the panel, K.J. Apa said, "I don't think it'd be Riverdale if there wasn't something tragic about a musical episode . . . it can be a breath of fresh air for people who have been watching a debilitating series of events for these characters." We can't wait to see how they pull that off!
