What Does A Red X On Your Hand Mean? The Social Media Movement

What Does A Red X On Your Hand Mean? (February 2018)
You may have noticed that your friends have been posting pictures of a red X on their hand on Instagram and Facebook. But what does a red X on your hand mean? What is the End It Movement? What is "Shine A Light on Slavery" Day?
It's all part of the End It Movement's "Shine A Light On Slavery" Day — and you are bound to see a lot more celebrities and member of government also showing their support.
Last year, Ashton Kutcher was one of the most outspoken supporters of the cause. Last year, the actor made an incredibly emotional speech at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Kutcher is a cofounder of Thorn, an anti-human trafficking organization that builds software to help fight against the sexual exploitation of children.
Other celebrities to lend their voice include Carrie Underwood, Peyton Manning, and Kristen Bell.

What Is "Shine A Light On Slavery" Day?
"Shine A Light On Slavery" day is meant to raise awareness about modern-day slavery and human trafficking. While it's easy to assume that slavery is a thing of the past, it is a painful reality for millions to this day.
According to Senator Bob Corker, a Tennessee Republican who introduced official legislation to address the issue with the End Modern Slavery Initiative Act, there are over 27 million people in 165 countries who are under forced labor and sexual servitude.
Many of these modern slaves are women and children. This number is higher than any other time in the world's history, according to Corker.

How To Promote #EndItMovement
You can visit the End It Movement website, where you can download red Xs to add to your own social media accounts. Or, take a red marker or lipstick to mark your hand and upload the image.

While this helps raise awareness, you can also volunteer your efforts to anti-trafficking groups or donate to the cause.
