The Cast Of 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' Appear In The Very First Look
The first look at the "Fantastic Beasts" sequel, "The Crimes of Grindelwald" with Johnny Depp, is here!
The 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' Sequel Title And First Look
Warner Bros. has officially announced the *Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequel title and the Fantastic Beasts cast in one go. And from the looks of it, Johnny Depp's villainous character is front and center.
Depp plays the titular character, the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Grindelwald, with his wonky eye and silver hair, even appears in the first look that was released on Thursday.
When Does 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' Come Out?
'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' will open on November 16, 2018 -- one year from the promo's release.
J.K. Rowling, the author of the wildly popular Harry Potter franchise, has hinted that Dumbledore had secret feelings for Grindelwald, even calling his love "a great tragedy."
And, man, have we been there. There's nothing more romantic than falling for a person who lives on the opposite side of the tracks as you, right? Although, it probably is a bit awkward when one of you is an evil dark wizard who's main area of interest is studying the Dark Arts and maybe killing all Muggles.
'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' Cast
Reprising his role as the adorkable Newt Scamander (Hufflepuff FOREVER!) is Eddie Redmayne. Helping to round out the cast is Katherine Waterson, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, and Ezra Miller.
Joining the cast for the first time is Jude Law, who will be a beautiful young Albus Dumbledore, proving that even the oldest, wisest wizards could still get it when they were younger.
So... is Johnny Depp going to kiss Jude Law or nah?
Sadly, this is an answer we will have to wait for, but I'm really rooting for everyone's middle school crushes to finally smash faces together, just like all those fanfics prophesied.
You can see the first look of Law as Dumbledore on the left of the first look.
At the end of the first Fantastic Beasts, Grindelwald is captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United State of America), thanks to Scamander's help.
However, Grindelwald has escaped custody and has started to gain followers. Most of his followers are unaware that his agenda is to raise pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings. Dumbledore asks Scamander for his help in ending Grindelwald's plans.
From left to right is Law as Dumbledore, Miller as Credence, Claudia Kim as Maledictus (she has a blood curse that will ultimately transform her into a beast, and honestly? Same.), Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, who used to be close to Scamander, but now is engaged to his brother, Callum Turner, Theseus (a war hero and Head of the Auror Office at the British Ministry of Magic), Waterstonas Tina Goldstein (an Auror for MACUSA), Redmayne as Newt, Folger (a No-Maj), Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Depp as Grindelwald.
David Yates will return as director, and Rowling will write the screenplay.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will open in theaters on November 16, 2018. So get your wands ready, brew a batch of butterbeer, and stock up on Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans -- magic is about to go down.
