Marvel's Captain Marvel Plot Synopsis

Captain Marvel's synopsis, as per the press release, reads as follows:

"The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

There's a lot to take away from this seemingly limited amount of information!

The big take away here, that should be fun for a lot of viewers, is that the movie is set in the 90s.

Which certainly explains Brie Larson's "The Rachel" haircut in the photo below (which also happens to feature Captain Marvel's green suit.)

Captain Marvel Cast

Along with the synopsis of the upcoming Marvel movie, the press release featured a number of big names attached to the project.

As we know, Brie Larson is set to star as Captain Marvel, but also joining her are Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, as well as Ben Mendelsohn and Jude Law.

Cast that is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe include Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser and Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer.

Naturally, Ronan returning makes perfect sense as the synopsis does include a "galactic war between two alien races." Ronan was first seen in Guardians of the Galaxy as a Kree, during the Kree-Skrull war, who wanted to destroy planets — as one does.
