Grey's Anatomy Star Patrick Dempsey is FINALLY Returning to TV

All Grey's Anatomy fans may want to sit down for this... McDreamy is coming back to our screens and dear lord we couldn't be more excited.

Unfortunately Patrick Dempsey (a.k.a. Dr. Derek McDreamy Shepherd)'s return to the small screen will not be to the Shondaland favorite Grey's Anatomy. Despite fans being totally down for a Sci-Fi McDreamy Ghost plot twist.

Dempsey will revigorate his TV career with a staring role in the upstart cable network Epix new feature show "The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair," a 10-episode series based on the 2014 Joël Dicker novel of the same name. Dempsey will play the titular character Harry Quebert, (of course), who is a college professor accused of the murder in a coastal New Hampshire town.

Damon Wayans Jr. and Virginia Madsen have also been cast in the series, as a police sergeant and a local diner owner, respectively. Epix has not yet announced a premiere date.

This will be Dempsey's first regular series role since he left Grey's Anatomy in 2015, when his beloved character was killed off. He was also recently seen in the American version of the Love Actually sequel for NBC's Red Nose Day special.
