Jesse Williams Speaks Out Against Coverage Of His Divorce In JAY-Z's 4:44 Video
It looks like Beyoncé and JAY-Z aren't the only ones put under the marriage radar after the release of 4:44. According to Spin, JAY-Z has released a companion video, titles Footnotes for 4:44, to be paired with his newest album. This video features male stars like Will Smith, Michael B. Jordan, Kendrick Lamar, and Aziz Ansari, as they weigh in on relationships.
Refinery 29 reported that Jesse Williams, who plays Dr. Jackson Avery on Grey's Anatomy, is also featured in the video, where he addressed the media's coverage of his divorce from wife Aryn Drake-Lee. The couple split this April, but there were a lot of rumors flying around that he was having a fling with actress Minka Kelly.
Neither Williams nor Drake-Lee have confirmed the rumors and the two are currently going through a custody battle over their children, Maceo and Sadie. In Footnotes for 4:44, Williams criticizes the media for spreading rumors of his infidelity and the "ensuing criticism that he's (allegedly) left his Black wife for a white woman."
In Footnotes for 4:44, Williams said, "I was in a relationship 13 years, 13 real years, not 5 years, not 7 years, 13 years and all of a sudden motherfuckers are writing thinkpieces that I somehow threw a 13-year relationship —like the most painful experience I’ve had in my life, like with a person I’ve loved with all of my heart — that I threw a person and my family in the trash because a girl I work with is cute."
