How Does Grey's Anatomy Keep Surgeries So Real

So, TV Fanatic revealed that the Grey's Anatomy crew brings on a registered nurse to set in order to make the surgeries look more accurate.

Back in 2006, Patrick Dempsey, who played Derek Shepherd, said, "We wouldn't be able to do what we're doing without her. We love her and respect her immensely and she makes us look good."

Very cool!

Fame 10 also revealed that the show would give the surgical nurses all the correct instruments that would be used in that surgery. And when we see someone operating, it is usually in the hands of actual surgeons. WOW.

What Props Does Grey's Anatomy Use For Surgeries?

Honestly, it's still pretty gross. But at least it's not human. Grey's Anatomy uses real cow organs on set. They also use a mixture of red Jell-O, blood, and chicken fat. EW.

Sarah Drew, who plays April Kepner said, "We work with Bovine organs, which is cow’s organs. The smell is repulsive and makes us all gag. And we use an actual soldering tool to solder the organs. It smells like burning flesh. There’s also a lot of silicone and blood matter – red jello mixed with blood and chicken fat. It’s pretty gross.”
