What Is The Governors Ball Cancelation Policy?

According to the official website for the music event, the Governors Ball is a rain or shine event. This means that the concert will be held whether it's sunny or if it rains. However, in 2016, the festival canceled Day 3 of the event due to severe weather conditions.

"Sunday, June 5th of Gov Ball 2016 has officially been canceled, due to severe weather and a high likelihood of lightning in the area. The safety of fans, artists and crew always comes first," The Governors Ball released in a statement.

So, if there is severe weather that includes lightning, it is likely that the event will be canceled.

Also, if you were wondering when the organizers of the event would make the call to cancel the event, you should know that the statement was released on June 5, 2016, for the event on June 5th. If there are any changes to the schedule, check day of.

If Governors Ball Is Canceled, Will I Get A Refund?

If the event is canceled due to inclement weather, you will be issued a refund. Gov Ball organizers made it clear in 2016 that you will be given a refund if something like this happens and it will take about three weeks to be issued.

That said, the Gov Ball website states, "Ticket user bears all risks, including cancellation of the event and of inclement weather."

Is the 2018 Governors Ball Canceled?

Now that the policy is clear, is there a chance of cancelation in 2018? According to the weather of Randall's Island, NY, as of this writing, there is a chance of rain from June 1 to June 2. This obviously coincides with the Gov Ball. While June 1st will likely only be a few showers, meaning you'll just have to endure the rain, Saturday, June 2 might have a few thunderstorms.

So, make sure to keep an eye out on the weather forecast as well as the Governors Ball website or Twitter for any updates.
