The 'Glass Skin' Trend That is Literally Life-Changing
Want perfect, glossy-looking skin? Check out the Korean glass skin trend that is taking over the world.
The Korean Glass Skin Trend | Everything You Need to Know in 2018
When I watch Korean dramas, my jaw noticeably drops for two reasons. The first is basically any moment Song Joong-ki is on screen. The second is when I’m in utter awe of the flawless, glossy-looking skin every actor seemed to achieve. I soon discovered that that look was actually the glass skin trend and has been all the rage in the Korean Beauty community for a while now. And the best part? It’s totally achievable, supposedly.
What is Glass Skin?
Made viral by aspiring Korean make-up artist, Ellie Choi, after posting her selfie on Instagram, the glass skin trend is all about bringing enough moisture to your skin to achieve an intensely hydrated, poreless, and glossy look.
The finished look is supposed to make the person look youthful and healthy, not greasy.
And in all honesty, it looks like the perfect marriage of the flawless application of foundation and a million different highlighters.

Of course, with all good things when it comes to skincare, you need a good routine that works for your skin and time for your skin to become dewy and translucent. This is definitely not something that can be done overnight.
So, now that you know what the goal is supposed to look like, how exactly can you get glass skin?
How to Get Glass Skin
Like we mentioned before, the glass skin trend is up to your skin preferences. However, this doesn't mean that there isn't a general glass skin routine that you can try to make things a little easier.
Here's a breakdown on what to do to get glass skin. And yes, it does blow the 10-step K-beauty routine out of the water.
Always double cleanse to remove all the dirt, sweat, and makeup.
Use a hydrating toner to balance out the pH of your skin.
When using the hydrating toner, use the 7 skin method, which basically means to apply 7 thin layers of the toner on your face.
Apply a facial essence to strengthen your moisture barrier.
Lock in moisture with great nourishing moisturizer, even if you have oily skin.
Use SPF to protect your skin. Even if you're only outside for a short period of time.
Exfoliate your skin on a regular basis (2-3 times a week) to slough off any dead skin cells. That way, you can keep your skin smooth.
And if you don't have enough time to do all of this, then don't worry! You can always try to achieve the glass skin trend with makeup. Just apply light layers of foundation and don't forget to highlight!
